Warm slippers that are also stylish

Ladies I need your help!

I want to have the heating off as much as poss this year for obvious reasons.

I've been looking for some slippers that are warm and cosy, but also vaguely stylish.

I'm failing miserably in my search. Any suggestions??

This thread is slightly old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for fresh recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with lots of warm and stylish options rated by real Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I wear Ugg boots as slippers - they’re incredibly warm and have a sole so I can nip outside if needed. I’ve never worn them as shoes outside but they’re the best slippers I have ever had!

aubergineterrine · 20/09/2022 09:47

Uggs or another Just Sheepskin slip are really cosy and look cool.

Rainbowshit · 20/09/2022 09:47

I love my mahabis

eurochick · 20/09/2022 09:51

Celtic and Co house boots. Incredibly warm.

bonzaitree · 20/09/2022 09:54

Ugg is a good shout- they were supposed to be slippers weren't they?

I love my north face slippers, have had for 3 years and so so comfy. I found much cheaper on eBay

I’ve got some Emu Australia sheepskin sliders which I’ll wear until they aren’t warm enough, then I’ll swap to some Costco Uggs that have never been worn outside. If you know someone with a Costco membership, they always do them at this time of year and they’re a fraction of the cost of actual Uggs.

I found a company called Ciora recently in my search for a soft-soled sheepskin slipper (I prefer soft soles so I can curl up on the couch). They're divine. I went back and bought a backup pair and a pair for my DS too.

I buy fake uggs about this time of year from tkmaxx to use as slippers.

Pootles34 · 20/09/2022 20:23

Geisswein are very good - until recently our kitchen was unheated, with a concrete floor, so I speak from experience.

Sandgroper · 20/09/2022 20:58

Ugg boots are your best friend in winter but gods sake, doesn’t wear them outside THEY ARE SLIPPERS AND SHOULD ONLY BE WORN INSIDE (sorry for the caps but I feel very strongly about this😁

Aussie here (in the UK) and I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing them outside - so chavtastic, when I was growing only the bogans wore them outside and they aren’t waterproof anyway.

Agree the ones from Costco are fab and much much cheaper than UGG Australia and just as good. I have both types - the Ugg boots and the slide on slippers (got a replacement pair of slide ons last week for £17 - you can’t go wrong)

GreatBigExpectations · 20/09/2022 21:07

I’ve had the Costco boots previously and currently have Emu ones. They’re really warm and I have cold feet 50 (not a typo) weeks a year.

Also good if putting the bins out or getting the washing in. No need to change footwear.
I also worry about falling down the stairs in mule slippers as I’m really clumsy, so feel safer in boots

Blowyourowntrumpet · 20/09/2022 21:09

Celtic house boots

TooMinty · 20/09/2022 21:23

I have FatFace boots which are similar to Uggs, they wouldn't last long being worn outside in Scotland but they make good slippers! Primark often do similar ones.

scissorsandsellotape · 20/09/2022 21:32

I like moshulu

MinglingFlamingo · 20/09/2022 21:47

Moshulu!
Unlike most slippers they have a thick sole and I can actually walk on them as opposed to slide around. And can navigate stairs safely. Also love the vast array of funky colours and patterns they do

Tobermoryeveryday · 20/09/2022 21:48

Celtic & Co. Amazing. So warm. Had mine for years.

dudsville · 20/09/2022 22:18

I have a pair of ugg boots and a pair of birkenstock felt clog that are warm but can be made warmer with socks. Both have soles that been i can take the rubbish out in them but they obviously aren't water proof.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/09/2022 22:44

Uggs here too - I never wear them “out” but they are so cosy and perfect for getting the cat/putting out a washing. I had the Costco ones previously and wore them until they fell apart, my current pair are proper Uggs which I got on Depop last summer for about £25.

right now I am in Birkenstock Bostons per @dudsville but mine are leather. I have a load of knitted socks from Etsy that I wear with them.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 21/09/2022 06:31

Sheepland sheepskin slippers. I suffer badly from cold feet and these are amazing. And cheaper than Uggs. You can buy replacement innersoles, which I do every year, to keep them ‘fresh’. I’ve already started weeding mine now it’s turned colder.

Therunecaster · 21/09/2022 06:36

I have a pair of leather Uggs and wear them out with pride!
