Nails - what am I doing wrong

Good morning!

I have started trying to do my own nails with gels and a lamp, I couldn't justify the monthly cost any more.
My problem is whenever I do them I can't get them to last. They always seem to start lifting at the bottom.
What am I doing wrong? Any hints and tips massively appreciated x

Very thin layers?

Push cuticles back and make sure no gel in touching the skin. I use a cocktail stick to remove the gel from the skin at side of nails.

You need to give your nail a fine buff first to give the polish something to grip to, then use a gel nail prep solution , wipe it onto nails to remove all natural oil from nail. Then it's best to do 3 thin layers and then a top coat. Don't get any polish on the edge of the cuticle. X

Nail tech here!
So, prep the nails and push cuticles back.
Apply base coat and cure twice.
Wipe each nail with nail prep solution (I use mylee)
apply colour, cure once
apply second coat of colour and cure twice
wipe with nail prep solution
apply top coat and cure.

Mine last 2-3 weeks.
