BIAB nails for nail biters

I've bitten my nails since I was a small child. I'm going on a once in a lifetime trip soon and really want nice nails. Will this help disguise my bitten stumps? I spoke to someone at the weekend and was told that BIAB won't actually extend my nails. Is this right because much of what I've read online seems to suggest that it can lengthen them a bit.

No it goes on top of your nails and then as your nails grow, the gap at the bottom is infilled.

I think you have them infilled every three weeks for 3 times then it's all taken off and you start again

I imagine they get pretty long after a few infills but I'm sure the nail tech must file them down after a certain point.

Why not try a regular gel first. BIAB is by a brand called The Gel Bottle and they do a lovely nude shade called marshmallow. You would be able to bite/ chew it as it's thick?

IME, no it doesn’t. It’s a slightly thicker gel that strengthens nails, rather than lengthens them. If you want length, you need to get acrylics.

Beauty professional here. I am not outing myself but let's say I know all the brands.
BIAB can be used for short extensions using a nail form. It is not suitable for those with eczema or other skin conditions. It can be clear or self coloured. It is infilled every 2-3 weeks.
If you have the time you could have a classic manicure every week for four weeks. This would allow you to grow your nails. That's what I do every quarter.

@WendyWagon what do you mean by a classic manicure (gel or regular polish or something different? )

ILoveMyBedTooMuch · 19/09/2022 19:59

BIAB can extend nails - not massively but they can do. They can also use a tip and then use BIAB on top.

@cherrypiepie@cherrypiepie a classic manicure is with regular polish that can be removed without filing or soaking in acetone. (E files actually cause less trauma than chemicals).
I actually wouldn't touch a weekly manicure myself. Let the salon remove it and don't pick! Start with light pink/ beige and work up. Some ex nail biters like red so they are aware of their nails.
There is a new hybrid polish out that cures under light. It is French but not widely available yet. It lasts a bit longer than polish.
