wanted to share in case anyone is considering buying.
Just had my first holiday abroad since buying a Philips Lumea in 2020 and good lord it's life changing !
Previous holidays are usually shaving legs and armpits daily, and good lord the bikini line and irritated/ ingrown hairs from chub rub (even with waxing!)
Didn't even take a razor - no shaving / Waxing rash, bumps, irritated bikini line. I'm so chuffed!

Good to read. I did my first session on Friday so I hope I have results like yours.

catfunk · 18/09/2022 21:44

@princessbear80 be aware you'll need a few sessions then a I do 2 x top up every few months but it's worth the time.

I've been a devotee for a few years. Has been amazing for bikini line whereas waxing gave be terrible ingrown hairs. Not had similar success with underarms but I can live with that

catfunk · 18/09/2022 22:08

Yes @gingertoast I find the underarms a bit painful too but with some extra sessions on them it's worked. I can't believe the effect it's had on my bikini line. Wish I'd had it in my 20s it would have changed my life !

It's fab isn't it? I haven't shaved my legs for months.

Neeko · 18/09/2022 22:44

Can I ask which model you have? I've been considering buying one for ages.

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 18/09/2022 22:48

Changed my life too. Honestly not exaggerating. I had my whole face done professionally about 10 years ago. I got an unexpected tax rebate and took the opportunity, as it was a few hundred ££ at the time.

I’d spent my whole life (35 years at that point) feeling so self conscious, plucking, bleaching, epilating, electrolysis etc - I had to do something every single day, even if just checking for stray bristles on my face every morning and plucking out or using the springy thing.

I was always really paranoid that I had a visible moustache/chin hairs so would cover my face when up close and talking to people, especially outside.

I’ve almost forgotten how stressful it was as I haven’t had to even consider it for so many years. I then did my legs and arm pits myself. All summer long I don’t have to even think about it.

It’s so worth every penny. When you think of the (wo)man hours you spend having to remove hair, worrying about it, feeling crap about it, it’s just so liberating to get rid of it altogether forever.

mine was a Smoothskin Gold which was quite a lot cheaper than the Lumea. But does exactly the same job. Only took me about 5/6 treatments, a month apart, to be totally rid of most of it. The odd stray hair I missed then got zapped over the following months. Haven’t touched it for years now.

Neeko · 18/09/2022 22:54

@SteveHarringtonsChestHair Thanks. I'll have a look for that one. There's so many options!

spicysoup · 18/09/2022 22:55

I must say I agree with this! I bought a second hand one about a year ago. I still have to shave but not nearly as often but the major different is my bikini line which doesn't have in grown hairs any more. It's worked well on my upper lip, but my stubborn chin hairs are a different matter. Hopefully they'll be gone too in other year.

spicysoup · 18/09/2022 22:56

*another

MarigoldPetals · 18/09/2022 22:57

It’s also been good for the enlarged capillaries on my face from rosacea.

Letsrunabath · 18/09/2022 23:05

Marigold
tell me more about your enlarged capillaries, I’ve some on my face and on my shins. I also love my limes but this may me love it even more.

Interesting. I have these. Has it just lessened them?

I had the same issues with the stubborn chin hairs. Then I read somewhere to pluck them. I did that and they were really thick black buggers that were hard to get out. That was months ago and they haven’t returned.
I just get the occasional ones now that are much finer than before.
