If there is a gap between cuffed jeans and boots, what socks do I wear?

I'm probably over thinking this.

My jeans and trousers seem to now be all a bit shorter, which was fine with trainers etc, but now I'm looking at chunky boots or Chelsea's what socks will be ok 'on show'?

Plain black? Thick woolly ones?

Following. I got some Chelsea style boots yesterday which are very high in the leg so hoping not to have a gap at all.

Also find myself thinking about this a bit too much!

I generally either wear plain dark socks in roughly the same colour as the boots, or go for something deliberately bright and eye catching, especially where the gap is a bit bigger and the socks are more visible.

Sock drawer is probably in need of an audit, so I will likely buy some longer socks to sit mid-calf. Want to avoid the gap that lets in the cold 🥶

I usually wear interesting colours to compliment or contrast with what I'm wearing. Sometimes black. I love socks and have bought a few from the Cambridge sock co. the last couple of years.

Very good question - am not sure if socks should be visible or not?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/09/2022 09:52

I bought some wool thermal hiking socks. They’re very pretty. Long and chunky in flecked pastel grey, with a cable up the side.

Realky warm, and look great.

SheWoreYellow · 18/09/2022 09:53

I want to wear some interesting pattered or cable ones, turned over, just to meet the hem of the trousers. But that won’t work when I sit down so I am a bit perplexed.

thedevilinablackdress · 18/09/2022 09:59

Lovely socks always deserve to be on show @Coffeepot72 and I pull them up fully @SheWoreYellow so less likely to have a gap. But I don't worry too much.

Wear a funky colour sock. Shows personality and that it's meant to be seen

I’m contemplating going back to skinny jeans for winter to avoid this issue. runs from S&B

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/09/2022 10:23

I usually do plain black or chunky mottled grey. Thinking I might treat myself to a couple of pairs of bright Paul Smith ones though.

NiqueNique · 18/09/2022 10:25

I wear traditional socks like argyle. I like a bit of pattern peeping out.

echt · 18/09/2022 10:25

I turn up my jeans to show off my boots but need to rethink socks and have something more assertive than black.

BEAM123 · 18/09/2022 10:28

Following as I also fret over this. I tend to wear black and also turn them down to show skin rather than sock but that will be drafty
