Perfume for a just turned 60?

Partner off on a trip abroad.

Could be in line from some perfume.
Likely to be guilt for trip, it’s work but first post covid.

I need to drop heavy hints. Even so my most likely outcomes are nothing or some something random.

But I live in hope

Usually traditional and if I try too something too it just gets used up by spraying on non fun or stay home days.

I need suggestions. just turned 60 want to smell different but newer scents don’t work for me.

Love all Chanel particularly Allure
Thiery Muglar Angel
Flower Bomb
Creed Amalfi
Penhaligon
Tom Ford Velvet Orchid
used to like Jo Malone but so weak

day time I use Clarins L’eau Dynisimant but I am not letting him know that!

what should I ask for?
thanks

Miss Dior? I love it and so does my mother in law. I always get compliments on it and think it's quite ageless

Terri muglar Alien
Nothing wrong with using perfume every day its nice to always smell good

TheSummerPalace · 16/09/2022 23:13

Allure!

KylieCharlene · 16/09/2022 23:15

Dior Dune. A real sophisticated classic.

I personally love Angel but find it doesn't suit me as much as I mature.

What about the iris one by Prada - sorry the name escapes me just now.
It always reminds me of an updated less powdery version of No 5. Much more modern but I get the same notes and the same sophisticated vibe from it but leaving behind the old fashioned rather fusty feeling.

I've just discovered and can't stop going on about Givenchy L'Interdit Millesime which is a limited edition. I've started to get back up bottles as I'm so in love with it. I've not smelled anything quiet like it and am hooked . I'm not into perfumes being for young or older people but if it's any help I'm in my early 60s.

Dior Addict
Guerlain insolence

GettingStuffed · 17/09/2022 11:22

I'm 58 and love flowerbomb

SocksAndTheCity · 17/09/2022 11:31

I've recently rediscovered Parisienne by YSL, which was my daily perfume for ages when it came out (around 2010?)

It's a slightly unusual smell and not one of the more popular ones, and I was never sure whether it had been discontinued (as was Baby Doll, another favourite) but it's really lovely if you like floral without being powdery Smile.

Perfume blogger here. Although you should never consider your age when choosing a perfume, I have found that my tastes have changed dramatically now I'm 52. Based on your list it looks as if you can handle a big hitter, so here are my suggestions:

Chanel Coco (the black label), spice and woods
Mugler Alien- jasmine and white woods but nuclear.
Dior Dune ( agree with PP above) beautiful softly spiced woody scent
Guerlain Insolence ( agree with PP above but only if you like violets)
Clinique Aromatics Elixir: spicy, rich, mossy, long lasting
Estee Lauder Beautiful (big floral but lives up to its name.)

SocksAndTheCity · 17/09/2022 11:44

I forgot about Mon Guerlain! Also Mon Guerlain 😁

I haven't tried Insolence, but based on the mention of violets (which I do like) I will be giving it a go - thanks @MissBattleaxe

MissBattleaxe · 17/09/2022 11:48

Mon Guerlain: lavender, floral notes and a warm caramel/gourmand base. Has anyone said La Vie Est Belle yet? It's not my favourite but if you like Flowerbomb, then you might like LVEB too.

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 17/09/2022 11:51

Guerlain is your friend.

L'Heure Bleue is wonderful and definitely a 'mature' fragrance without being Old Lady.
Mon Guerlain if you like sweetness with depth. It makes me think of spicy black cherries.
Insolence if you like violet.

Otherwise I would say L'Interdit (vintage if you can).

Chanel 19. My dh brought me back some when he had a work trip to Germany and we had only been dating for 3 months.

Pigeon31 · 17/09/2022 17:15

You might like For Her by Narcisso Rodrigues

Viviennethebeautiful · 17/09/2022 23:22

Gosh. Thank you all so much. All of the recommendations are brands I feel comfortable with. Taking myself off to a perfume hall tomorrow to try all your brilliant suggestions
