Eyeliner

Hi all
I am having issues in that my eyeliner - top lid - won't stay put. I guess my eyelids are drooping on account of age!

I tried a primer and I'm allergic to it, though it seemed to work.

I could get semi permanent liner put on but the process looks terrifying, plus it seems weird as it will look obvious?

Would really prefer alternatives, any eyeliner out there with more staying power? I have used Lauder, Clarins, L'oreal. Thanks.

Anastasia Beverly Hills. Purple tube.

Alternatively switch to gel liner, (Inglot is perfect), apply with an angled brush.

Lastly, switch to eyeliner all together, a softer look and minimal creasing. You can smudge/blend.

Set all of the above with Urban Decay setting spray.

Oh and I'm 42.

Perpop · 15/09/2022 14:18

KVD tattoo liner

NoteorNot45 · 15/09/2022 14:24

I'd make a terrible mess of liquid liner I think? I just use a brown pencil. I should have maybe said that, sorry.

I guarantee I'd be allergic to setting spray. I can't even put foundation or powder on my eyelids, I itch right away.

BecauseICan do you mean switch to shadow? Does it stick better?

Oh and my brows are OVERDUE a wax by about 3 weeks. Grin

NoteorNot45 · 15/09/2022 17:26

Because wow, you are stunning!

I don't do lashes or lower eyelids or eyebrows. Literally just looking for eye, iner.

I have googled prices for semi perm eyeliner but then as I'm allergic to so manythings, I find myself worrying, what if I'm allergic to the liner or if I get sepsis or something!

might just have to get used to wearing no eyeliner.

@BecauseICan22 How do you not have transfer on your top lid, when ever I put liner in my lower lid it always transfer to top lid and never stays in my waterline.

TheOGCCL · 15/09/2022 19:18

I can’t wear eyeliner. It either smudges off altogether within 30 minutes, or it all transfers to my above my eye. All I can manage is tight lining my upper lash line with liquid liner. I think it depends on your eye shape, your age and your skin type.

NoteorNot45 · 16/09/2022 19:20

So what's the deal with eyeshadow? Does it transfer the way liner does?

today I haven't transfer so much as it sort of vanished. I used to put a good liner on at 7am and have to remove it at night. So strange, what happened?

Recently, I've had unexpected success with Maybelline Tatto Liner, the smokey eye version; an emergency purchase as I'd gone for a weekend break without my makeup. I'd given up with eyeliner and just used laura mercier cake liner to tightline as I have oily, hooded eyelids. But this lasted well on my lids and as a tightliner, it didn't smudge, also worked well to fill in gaps in my brows.

I have really oily eyelids and struggle to keep my liner smudge free. For me the best liner by a mile is Eyeko Black Magic - it’s an easy pen applicator and absolutely doesn’t budge. I have it in black and brown. I think I discovered it through the M&S advent calendar so check if it’s included this year!

thanks all

I have ordered this but might pick up the Myabelline as a trial. If it's good, I will let you guys know!

separate query but has anyone tried Laura Geller baked powder foundaton or balance & brighten? My skin is starting to need something, I tried a Rimmel lighter bronzer and broke out in allergy spots. I already use Laura Geller concealer so hopefully that will be okay for sensitive skin and QVC let you try make up. I have been eyeing up Charlotte Tilbury but you can't return that.

You need Semi Permanent eyeliner aka eyeliner tattoo. Game changer

DSGR · 19/09/2022 23:42

Urban Decay is brilliant. I’m mid 40s and it doesn’t budge

PhillyJoe · 20/09/2022 07:54

whuch Charlotte Tilbury product? Pretty much everything is heavily fragranced so might not be good for your skin. It’s an expensive brand but Chantecaille do some nice base products. I like their powder foundation.

As for eyeliner, you could try going over the pencil with same colour eyeshadow to set it.

lindyloo57 · 20/09/2022 10:48

I've just ordered the gel eyeliner too, from qvc, I do use laura geller balance and brighten, specially in the summer, as I have oily skin, it's great.

NoteorNot45 · 20/09/2022 13:12

Ohilly thanks for the warning, will avoid.

lindy thanks. I've ordered a set of stuff which includes a blush and eye pencil. Hopefully I can start looking less washed out. My age seems to have hit me like a truck this summer!
