Comfy but stylish backpack

faffadoodledo · 14/09/2022 22:11

I'm looking for a comfy but stylish backpack. Happy to spend up to £150. I want something that looks smart for a city yet is practical. Thinking of a Kate Spade one but worried the straps are too skinny.
Any good recommendations out there?
Thanks x

What do you need to carry in it OP?

faffadoodledo · 15/09/2022 13:58

purse, passport, phone, book, sunglasses and perhaps a light rain mac. It's really for when i go inter railing, something sensible but stylish to wander round cities in

Fallowing.

I have a fjallraven one and it's the most uncomfortable thing I've every worn!

I carry a metal bottle of water which is a bit weighty but I wouldn't say I carry a particularly heavy bag.

Following too
what I'd really like is a small one that converts to cross body, had one from Debenhams years ago but not seen anything since.

I have two from Mandarina Duck like that. It's useful to have as a backpack when I'm on my bike and then shoulder strap at work.

Like this - although mine were bought in sales!

I have this one and find it very comfortable even with my laptop etc.

Dealbruche lovely but pricey, also not cross body, sadly.

Have a look at mat&nat or nat&mat can’t remember, great quality!

Backpacks are great aren't they! They take a lot of stick which is why I only buy cheap ones if I am going somewhere. The last one I got is black with gold edging and looks good. It cost me £12 on eBay. No need to buy expensive ones at all

I love my Longchamp backpack.. lightweight and waterproof, adjustable straps. You can get more in than you think!

Very true. In my excitement, I forgot that cross body meant that it has to go across your body. 😂 They do have some similar ones (not cross body) for less than 100 in the sale atm.

Some of those are lovely. Might have found the answer.

Readerofwords · 15/09/2022 16:52

@EmmaH2022 I've got a Kipling crossbody that converts to a backpack. I don't think they make it any more but looks like you can still find the odd one here and there. Also a few new ones on ebay. I love mine but not sure it could be classed as stylish! Kipling Candy

Kath544 · 15/09/2022 17:19

yes Matt and Nat

EmmaH2022 · 15/09/2022 17:22

The Longchamp ones having no outside pockets is a problem. Also, very pricey.

Nattalie18 · 15/09/2022 17:34

Matt and Nat - never come across them before but they look great. Also vegan for vegan daughter. Might have to buy two!

I'd get a money belt like this to keep your credit card, phone and passport in.

Walking round with an expensive backpack might attract pickpockets. When I went interailing (many moons ago!) the 'fashion' was to wear your backpack on your front to stop this happening, though my friend somehow still got all of her money nicked on a bus in Prague.

I love my Roka one. Really comfortable and fab quality.
My dd has a lovely kipling one, lots of pockets which I like.

goldfinchonthelawn · 15/09/2022 21:18

DS has a lovely Osprey one. Stylish, slimline and comfortable.

gg96cgp · 15/09/2022 21:22

Another vote for Roka. Love mine.

These are good, different sizes available depending on how much you need to carry.

faffadoodledo · 17/09/2022 11:08

I've ordered a Kipling City Mini pack. Right price point and hopefully right features!

This looks good! I currently have a kipling cross body and love all the pockets.
