Masculine style

I have to go on a work trip to Europe and have to find clothes to wear! Normally I work from home and so don't have to think about it. I would love some suggestions on what to wear!

In my normal day to day I wear black or grey skinny jeans and a shirt, with flat boots or with smart trainers. I like a masculine look and tend to buy mens shirts when I can.
It will be smart casual I think? Any recommendations for masculine work clothes? Or even day to day clothes! I am 5 foot four and size 10. Thank you!!

I think I would often aim, and fail, to dress kinda like this but I hear skinny jeans are out and so I am at a loss

Charity shop! By the sound of it, an oversized shirt, smart trousers, maybe even a sweater vest could look really chic on you 😃

I'm dressed very much like that picture today (not the figure or the 'swagger') have Chelsea boots rather than converse.

I wear boots like these quite a lot with this type of outfit. I don't have a blazer that I like though, the one I have feels too boxy on the shoulders

I am not sure how to wear baggy shirts without skinny trousers as otherwise wouldn't I look baggy all over?

Skinny jeans aren’t out. Just wear what you like!
Or you could go for a different shape of jeans and a slimmer fitting blazer?

lilyfire · 14/09/2022 21:14

I’d go for a more fitted shirt and straight leg or wider trousers. You could try thin jumper tucked in with belted trousers.

These are lovely trousers (tried on yesterday) and I like the way they are styled with the boots and jumper.

Houseplanthorror · 14/09/2022 21:17

Thanks! Any straight leg trouser recommendations? Is the shorter ankle showing thing still the way to wear trousers? Tucked in jumpers!? I really am clueless!

Oh I do like them! I could wear with brogues perhaps? And try to find a fitted shirt that didn't feel too feminine

I will still be wearing skinnier for sure! But just want to broaden my wardrobe a bit and try not to look too dated!

I like a Stacey dooley sort of style but other ideas sound great too! I thought jeans in this pic could be easily replaced with smart trousers and still look good ☺️

I keep reading that skinny jeans are "out", but then why are so many people still wearing them then 😁?!

Maybe they're just old and dated looking people like me??

Slim leg chinos are always handy, try H&M or Uniqlo, a turn up is quite trendy.
tuck in shirts, add a tank top, or thinner jumpers just tucked in at the front middle, not all the way round.

You might find some inspiration on the Totême site. Even if you want to spend less.

Definitely try to upgrade your look for Europe.

For 'men's style' short-sleeve shirts for women, I've had some luck with relco. Their main site has only a few options, but you can find more sold at mazey's (www.mazeys.co.uk/search?type=product&q=relco+women%27s+shirt). A lot of them have patterns, especially chequered, but I have their blue-green tone plain one and it looks great on me.

LuubyLuu · 17/09/2022 01:03

I am the same height and size as you and like wearing a plainer more preppy style.

Europeans will be smarter and look more polished in the office than in the UK. I get that skinnies are not supposed to be fashionable, but I'm with you, I wear them to balance a looser top half.

If you wanted to up your game or mix it up, I'd wear loafers rather than boots, and wearing a jacket/blazer instantly lifts a pretty basic skinny trousers shirt/top/jumper combo. I've got stacks and stacks of jackets from over 20 years as they wear well and don't really date.
