S&B newbie - need hot date help!

I’m meeting a guy I’ve known (only online) for several years. He’s seen pics of me of course, but I only usually post head and shoulders or reasonably flattering full length pics.

He’s 10 years younger than me (I’m 48) and I’m plus size, so now panicking that I’m going to disappoint when we meet in person. So many people I’ve met on FB and then in real life are so much bigger than I expect and I’m sure I’m no different!!

Now, I only have a week, so not going to be able to lose a stone (or 3) but can you lovely lot please help me find something flattering, sexy but not too try-hard, for a casual first date.

I'm short (5’3”) and apple shaped, a size 18 in most shops (usually shop cheap - Primark/F&F etc) I have chunky legs so prefer not to show them, but good boobs, so happy to flash a bit of cleavage.

What does a chunky cougar wear these days when trying to dress to impress?! I don’t have a huge budget but if it’s something I can wear again and again I’d be happy to splash out a little more than Primark prices! (Will post full length pics to help in the following post, so I don’t lose this one).

TIA 🙏

Wrapover dresses are always good for a dress up, dress down, cleavage flashing look. It's meant to be cooler at the end of the week so tights and boots might be fine.
Alternatively, a maxi skirt with a wrapover style top?

Thank you. I do have a couple of wrap over dresses actually. Maybe have to try on some of the stuff I own before I rush out shopping! My wardrobe is stuffed but I feel like I never have anything to wear

That off the shoulder style dress looks fab on you. What about an off the shoulder style top?

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 12/09/2022 22:36

And I know the baggy trousers isn’t a good look, it it was a comfy casual day shopping and swimming so went for loose easy to get on and off! Maybe that should be my dating strategy too? Grin

Thank you. Yes I do have a couple of off the shoulder tops I could consider. I’m definitely happier with my top half than the bottom half, so drawing attention upwards is a win!

Bumping for the morning S&B crowd who were clearly getting their beauty sleep when I posted last night!

A dress similar to the green one with some heeled ankle boots and a little leather jacket would look great! Hope the date goes well! X

hugefanofcheese · 13/09/2022 08:24

That last dress looks gorgeous. Are you going somewhere you could wear that?

Im seconding something off the shoulder.

I have to say I like the v-neck one less although the colour is nice, showing off your neck, shoulders and collarbone is really flattering in the pic. Maybe you could make it a bit more autumnal with boots?

Iadorerain · 13/09/2022 08:25

you already look great in those dresses. I think your style really suits you. I can’t give advice for your figure as I’m the complete opposite, but wanted to say that you look fabulous

PenYGore · 13/09/2022 08:30

I don't know much about S&B, but you look fabulous in the dress in the third photo! Could you not wear that?

sausage767 · 13/09/2022 08:36

That last dress would impress most red blooded males! I would not call you plus size, just curvy.

Rina66 · 13/09/2022 10:03

I don't know if you follow Inpo life on Instagram, but she's very similar to you and wears some really fun sexy outfits.

I like both of these outfits for a casual date...

Ah thank you all!! So many nice comments.

I wore the last one on a visit to a historical house in an attempt to look Regency - don’t think the huge bangers are very Austen-esque!!

I am almost as wide side-on as I am from the front so most def plus size, but maybe I’ll stay face-on if that helps!!

Another you thinks the last floral off the shoulder dress is spot on and seasonal. I'd go with it. If you want something 'new' to feel your best, get a new bag or nail polish. But I wouldn't fix what isn't broken!

Flyinggeesei234 · 13/09/2022 15:23

Could not agree more with @DeoForty and others! OP the off shoulder dress and find another way of doing ‘new’; hair, nails, whatever. The dress is perfect.

Sparkletastic · 13/09/2022 15:57

You look amazing in that off the shoulder dress. I'm the same size as you and would normally say go for a maxi dress with a deep v neck or shirring below the bust but that dress you already own is a knockout.

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 13/09/2022 16:57

Ah you’re all so lovely thank you! Not sure where we’re meeting yet - exciting! - but if that dress is appropriate it’s good to know it has the MN seal of approval. It’s nice and cool and super comfy too, so practically a good choice.

He’s been very sweet by messenger and seems genuinely excited to meet me too, which I’m a bit baffled by tbh! Grin

i will do my roots this weekend and try something nice with my hair to finish it off.

Another vote for the last dress .. gorgeous!!

KimmySchmitt · 13/09/2022 18:37

Last dress is gorgeous on you but I really really don't like those shoes! What's your plan for footwear? Probably depends on what you're doing and where you are, it's been too wet for trainers here lately.

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 13/09/2022 21:03

Yeah, as the dress was originally a kind of fancy dress outfit, I bought the shoes for £5, as I only have trainers and boots, so had to get something flat and nondescript for walking around in just for the day! They’re soo comfy but they’re fugly, so definitely won’t wear them! 😂

I live in Adidas trainers usually but I do have some tan suede ankle boots for when I want to look like I made an effort!

Thanks to everyone for not listing loads of expensive outfits I need to buy. I’ll try on some of my other dresses and see what works. If the weather cools down a bit I have some knee high boots that I love with dresses too so that’s an option
