Big pants that don’t dig in at the top of the leg.

I like simple big pants for everyday, or to sleep in with a vest, but all the ones I buy dig in at the very top of the thigh, which I hate. I like plain black Sloggis, but they do this, and I’ve just bought the John Lewis own brand pants but they do the same. I am not thin and don’t have skinny legs but I’m not very large either, a padded size 12. I had the same issue when I was a lot thinner though.
With the JL ones I sized up one size but the knickers themselves are a little bit too roomy overall, yet the elastic still digs in, and also digs in at the back of the legs too.
I bought the Wirpal ones often suggested on here, they are better than thw JL ones, but still not amazingly comfy at the legs.
The shorty version from JL is fine (no leg elastic) .
Any tips ? I don’t mind if they are expensive, I just want something simple , cottony would be a plus.
