I love my veja’s but apparently they are mumsy old fashioned and try-hard! That’s according to just one thread on here. What are alternatives I should look at? I’m mid 40s if it makes a difference.

If you’re a size 4.5 and below then buy the kids new balance trainers as they’re cheaper.

Veja most uncomfortable shoes know to man.

It's all about the flatform this season. I love Russel and Bromley's but pricy. Can do in a white but metallics are good too. Look lovely with the wider leg trousers

If you like your Vejas, ignore what anyone else says!

I've been looking at this brand; I like the bright colours as well as the usual white ones and I love that they're not too chunky. My feet are big enough, I don't want clunky footwear.

I find Vejas really comfortable.

I'm hankering after these at the moment but my dd has just got the high top version so she may ban me

I also like converse high tops - seeing loads of people in those with cropped jeans/trousers.

and wouldn't mind some AF1 jordan like these (possibly not in purple)

and can see how the New Balances are quite appealing too. I want so many pairs I'm paralysed by indecision....

I just want a pair of plain white trainers but don’t know which ones to get.

I like a little lift in my trainer, have been wearing my Puma Calis almost daily for about 4 years now, so time to get some new ones I think - am thinking of getting some ASICS

Oh I like the look of those. I want some with a bit of a platform because I’m short. 😂

Ive got some from Tesco but they’ve only lasted a few months.

I'm early 50's. I wear ASICS running shoes, I get the navy ones so they're not too out there. I do run in them as well as use for school run!

Also, New Balance 327, a bottle green pair. Love them. My teen wears Nike Airforce and Blazers as well as Converse so they're off limits for me!

Have an old fuschia pair of Puma's which are comfy, they may have been in fashion a decade ago.

Having said that, I'm currently wearing a pair of £14 walking trainers I got from Sainsburys; they're super comfy!

Me too! Never heard of them, just had a look and I really like them! It's rare that I can find trainers I like. What's wrong with them - why are they mumsy and try hard?

I've been told I have cool shoes but teenagers and I wear new balance and nike dunk lows. I also have a pair of plain white vejas that nobody has commented on (lol!) but I like them and think they look nice.

I'm 44 - wear Vans or Adidas with dresses for work most days (and at weekends if I'm honest!)

Ooh, I've just noticed that New Balance 327s come in a lovely brown/tan colourway. That might sway it for me. I want non-white trainers for autumn, but all black ones always have a slight orthopaedic look to them.
What is the sizing like with the 327s?

I have just bought myself a pair of white Stan Smiths. I’m so pleased with them.

Also really like the new balance trainers in the shop. Too many to choose!

@Pigtailsandall did you find out about the sizing on the 327s? I wear a 6 in new Balance usually but Id love a pair of those new ones for work.

If you like your Veja's then stuff what other people say! I think they're lovely but I don't like the price tag very much (I also have some Victoria trainers which look almost identical and cost loads less BUT are ten times more comfortable. Annoys me each time i wear my Veja's!)
My all time favourites are my Superga sneakers. I'd recommend them as they're a classic

Do you really worry about being judged? enjoy your choices....be fabulous and never apologise or feel inadequate. Anyone who judges people on their fashion sense isnt someone worth bothering with. You find as you get older...comfort is important...hence bloody love my Sketchers...wear practically nothing else....ever.

No to white trainers, anything else looks fine

All the school mums and older round here are in Vejas.
I have been wearing AF1s for 2 years alongside all the teens.
My tween said to me the other day “since when did you have those trainers” and has taken them off me - so they must still be in fashion?!

I also have converse and white Supergas.
really like the NB 327s, Nike Blazers and the Astirs so thanks to PPs who linked to those.
