Boys narrow trainers - help!

I'm hoping that the hive mind might be able to rescue me. DS1 (9) has just had his feet measured and need trainers in a 5.5E (given I'm a AA fitting this is not a great surprise). Nothing in the local shops fits his narrow ankle (the nice lady in Clarks threw her hands up in despair) and I'm not turning up anything useful online. I could order him a 5.5F fitting fairly easily but I thought I'd ask here first...obviously, given his age, I'd rather not spend an absolute fortune.

PS, his current shoes fit beautifully three weeks ago...of course they did...hence it's rather late in the day. Thankfully school shoes I can fine. Just not trainers.

We had some from H&M (or possibly Next) I think that were really narrow.

Thanks. No luck with either online…I suspect we need to go to a bigger town with a full range and trudge our way round. Heigh ho!

I find Adidas trainers are very narrow. I know I can’t wear them and they always fit my narrow footed DS.

Nike star runners are very narrow and perfect for my E fitting DS

Whereabout are you OP? I have this issue with both children and the answer is W J French and son in Southampton. They keep winning independent shoe shop of the year and I'm not surprised because they're fab. They measure up and always have lots of E sizes in and know how the different manufacturers cut their shoes. They won't sell a pair that don't fit and my kids always have four or five pairs of E fitting school shoes and trainers to choose from rather than the one pair that Clark's have (but they'll have to order it in etc).

Try their online shop if you're not close, but their shop is worth a couple of hours of driving....full to the brim of thousands of boxes of shoes on all the different floors and the chap fitting the older boys shoes has been measuring and fitting kids shoes for decades.

Ps. Skechers are your friend. Cut narrow.

I can only wear asics as my feet are so narrow and same with my son.

Amazing, thank you @JanuaryParty @NuffSaidSam @Soggydog @planedelay and @tothesea off to hunt for shoes!

So I rang the lovely people at WJ French who advised Geox and said to order them as we’re over an hour from Southampton. We’ve ordered them and they’re brilliant! Thank you again, everyone.
