I'm slowly updating my wardrobe with better quality replacements as I have lost some weight etc and have some spare funds to buy things I really like.

I've gone from basically buying everything from H&M /New Look + ASOS jeans and T-shirts to getting some lovely clothes from Cos, Sezane, Reiss & Whistles. I'm looking for some really smart and quality work clothes for my semi regular events where I have to look very polished.

Please direct me to where I can buy quality work dresses / trousers / tops & jackets? I've had some nice bits from Zara where the fit/style is perfect but they just don't last, so frustrating.

Also, all my T-shirts are suddenly too long now I've prised myself out of skinny jeans. Where can I buy short but not cropped T-shirts? Cos ones are too long but love the shape/fit.

Have a look at Jaeger and Jigsaw - both are excellent quality. I've been impressed with Phase Eight recently too.

Sugarsandwiches · 09/09/2022 21:12

Thank you @babouchette - having a look at both now!

It’s not super cheap but The Fold has some beautifully cut and made work wear: thefoldlondon.com

fiorentina · 09/09/2022 21:16

The Fold and Me+Em are both worth looking at.

Dingalingo · 09/09/2022 21:17

Yes I love jigsaw for their nice quality smarter t shirts with tailored trousers.

Really appreciate this - haven't heard of the fold or me&em so investigating now.

I was coming on to say The Fold.

I like the look of Dai but haven't tried it myself yet.

I have also got nice work dresses in the DvF sale.

Finally, Boden comes up with the occasional really great piece.

DameCelia · 09/09/2022 23:06

The Fold, Winser London, the odd thing from Boden, Me and Em if you don't need to be too formal.
I've tried Dai but found the cut very strange, not sure if it's cut for the Asian market but it is just odd on an hourglass.

Liz Truss wore The Fold to meet the Queen on Tuesday.

itsnotdeep · 10/09/2022 07:00

I think that Massimo Dutti looks really good this season (particularly the trouser suits).

I didn't particularly like Liz Truss's things this week - but I can't wear that length of dress.

I wear alot of t shirt type tops from Jigsaw.

I've seen a blazer in Other Stories that I like here

And like the Cos black trousers too at the moment. (I don't have to be particularly formal but have a few things coming up that I need to be reasonably smart for).

Sugarsandwiches · 10/09/2022 10:33

The fold is exactly what I was looking for - thank you. The wide leg wool trousers look perfect Grin

Liz Truss needs shoulder pads!

CMOTDibbler · 10/09/2022 10:54

I have stuff from the Fold for when I need to look very polished, and I feel incredible in it. I stalk ebay for it though! Winser is lovely for a step down from the boardroom feel of The Fold and their dresses are very comfortable as well

Sugarsandwiches · 10/09/2022 19:54

@CMOTDibbler I saw a Windser skirt in The Times today and just went on to have a look - agree lovely stuff.
