Dermatica - anyone subscribe?

I saw Dermatica mentioned on another thread by a woman with amazing skin. I'm looking into it for myself now as I've mild skin problems and I'm intrigued by the online offering and monthly supply.

Anyone got experience of it? Is it easy to cancel if I want to cancel the contract?

Thank you

'It says it's normal on the product sheet, but wondering if you had that too, and if you're seeing results now?'

Sounds normal, but if in doubt, reduce how often youre using the tret, and increase your moisture. My flaking and irritation have settled right down, but I'm starting my next stronger prescription tonight so might be back there again! Not seeing positive results yet but I think it's too early, only been around 2 months for me

@Lottapianos thanks. Yes I've just increased the moisturising and I think it's doing the trick!

Good luck with the next strength formula.

I have just signed up @KittyCatsby thanks for the referral.

For people asking about SPF, I used to use La Roche Posay but have switched to Thank you Farmer Sun Project Water Sun Cream in the last year, I find it's less oily on my skin than LRP.

If it works, my beauty expenses are going to quite add up, I also have a Liberty subscription that I use for fun and luxuries (I let the credit build up and treat myself to things I wouldn't otherwise buy like scents and posh candles) lol

I’m considering signing up but admit I’m also a bit confused by it all. I want to improve sun spots/recent acne pigmentation. Do you apply the cream over your whole face?! Every day - or build up every few days etc.. I also read somewhere about mixing it with moisturiser or is that the same as buffering?

Apologies for silly questions 😊

@Bogglebrain yes apply to your whole face as your prescription will target your particular skin concerns but it also improves the overall texture of your skin. You need to build up your usage slowly so start with once or twice a week and then gradually increase it over a number of weeks. I'd also recommend that you keep the rest of your skin care very simple until you've established using tret and don't introduce any other products.

You can use moisturiser either just before or after use to buffer. This can be particularly useful when you first start using it. You may find that your skin gets worse before it gets better. My skin doesn't react to anything but others have had dry / peeling skin or more spots for a short while. Reactions are definitely reduced if you take it slowly. It's important to wear sunscreen once you start tret as your skin becomes more sensitive to the sun. I've been using it since the start of lockdown and it's made a huge improvement to my skin.

If you do want to start using Dermatica then this is my referral code and I think it gives us both 25% off. www.dermatica.co.uk/referrer/MQ3RL7

@TattiePants thank you so much for taking the time to reply. That’s very useful. I think I‘ve finally got the hang of it. My skincare routine is currently very simple - basically non-existent!

Now just need to decide whether to start before or after the Christmas works night out 🤔

@Bogglebrain as long as you take it really slowly you should be ok. Just make sure you have a good moisturiser (doesn't have to be expensive). I'm currently using Cerave pm and an Aldi Lacura one plus LRP Cicaplast if I ever have sensitive skin. The other thing to mention, you can change the amount of time between prescriptions to anything between 28 - 56 days. This is really useful when you start out as you'll only be using it a few times each week.

No. Dermatica basically used tretinoin as their formula. I just by tretinoin myself. Its much cheaper and i can get the highest percentage as possible. My skin is looks soo much better now. Just with tretinoin.

@abcdefgh123456 where do you buy your tret from please? I use skin and me which is awesome but quite expensive.

Sorry I meant @Abcdefgh1234

You can get it from Farmacia Andorra. I've been buying it from there for a few years, under the brand name Retirides. It comes in 3 strengths - 0.025%, 0.05% and 0.1%.
At first I was worried it was a scam or something, because the package takes a few weeks to be delivered, but it was fine.
Only once did it not arrive, I had ordered quite a few tubes trying to save money (I think 5 or 6 or something) and there was some problem with customs. Thankfully they send you a tracking link in the confirmation email with your order, so I contacted them and they refunded me, minus the postage fee. So now I only buy 2 or 3 tubes at a time, which is more expensive but it's worked ok so far.
It costs about €20 per 30 gram tube, however the shipping costs for me are about another €20 (for Ireland), and a tube usually lasts me 2 - 3 months using a small amount 5 or 6 nights a week.

Not sure if that would work out cheaper than the subscription services TBH. I also don't know what the cost would be to the UK and not sure about customs charges because of Brexit.

Honestly, if was living in the UK I would be using Dermatica or Skin & Me, because of ease of use, and you can get other ingredients added - but I don't so this is my only way to get tretinoin.

Or if you know someone living in Spain you can apparently get it over the counter in pharmacies there pretty cheap.

@AAbcdefgh1234 Thank you for the info, I'll take a look and see how the costs stack up.

Sorry to revive this thread but thought it would better than starting a new one as it's not THAT old.

How are people getting on with their Dermatica?

Also, I'm thinking of registering, but I'm not sure how it works? Do you get one product that you use every night and then you use your own toners/moisturisers/cleansers for the rest of the time? How do you know if you have something in your existing arsenal that would be incompatible with the Dermatica product, or reduce its efficacy?

They sell products to compliment. I think you need more hydration with tret as its drying .
I’ve developed a routine. ( for Dry skin ) I could send to you if you like when I get home . There is also a tret support grouo on fb .

Ive been using tret from dermatica since august . The difference is huge. I've just recently added their vitamin c serum which I use in the morning after moisturiser but before SPF .
Everything else is quite basic really in terms of routine . I'm still using my Superdrug hot cloth cleanser and just a simple moisturiser .
I think I may need something more a night as the tret can be really drying .

Thanks! Yes please, @Givemesunshines , my skin is normal to dry, but it sounds like I may need to up the moisture.

What were your main issues, @TricksyLiesmith ? Mine is crepeyness and some sun spots.

It's usually Tret that you get in your serum. This wouldn't be in other products you already use unless your moisturiser has Retinol in.

Pair your routine right back until you're comfortable with Tret so just cleanse and moisturiser plus Spf in the morning. For example I wouldn't use any acid toners as you could disrupt your skin barrier

Ok, so stuff that puts moisture in eg hydrating toner is good, but anything more active should be out?

Report
TricksyLiesmith · 26/11/2023 15:58

@UnbreakMyFart
My main issues with were fine lines and overall texture . I had loads of age spots too. My tret prescription contains hydroquinone which has significantly faded them.

I used to use glycolic toner but that's too harsh with the tret . I've really paired everything back to be honest.
