Dermatica - anyone subscribe?

I saw Dermatica mentioned on another thread by a woman with amazing skin. I'm looking into it for myself now as I've mild skin problems and I'm intrigued by the online offering and monthly supply.

Anyone got experience of it? Is it easy to cancel if I want to cancel the contract?

Thank you

I've been using skin and me for a little while and am really impressed so far with the effect on my acne and I've had no side effects. It seems very gentle but effective.

I’ve also tried a bottle of Dermatica (couldn’t resist the free-ish trial). They've prescribed the same mix of ingredients as my skin and me treatment but a slightly higher percentage of tretinoin. I’ve found it does dry out my skin a bit, so I’ve been using it every other day (and just one pump, which is significantly less product than a skin and me dose).

I think dermatica will be more cost effective long term if my skin can learn to tolerate it (I’m going on two months of use and still haven’t run out). Though my skin seems to tolerate skin and me better.

If anyone is considering either I have referral codes for both I'm happy to share 😊.

Skin & Me 1 month free (ex prescription fee of £3.50)

Dermatica (seems to be £2.90 then 25% off the next month using referral code)

@KBLondon hi - you're ahead of me with all this! I hadn't heard of skin + me before. I just have been living under a rock

I've just cancelled my subscription as it's a little luxury I can't warrant at the moment, but I did find that it helped my skin massively.

That being said, I think that getting into a regular skin care regime will help in general - as a lot of people don't care for their skin properly.

I now use E45 cleanser and moisturiser. Much, much cheaper and my skin is still great.

Definitely a luxury thing to do, I'm cutting and changing things too. I'm going to give my skin a bit of priority for now.

You're lucky! I wish I could use E45 on my skin but not a hope, my pores clog up so easily :( I used La Roche posay creams on my children who had allergies and discovered it was fab on my skin too and a great big bottle of AP Baume lasted for ages. It's all trial and error isn't it!

I've used dermatica for a year and a half. I have it arrive every 6 weeks and I use it daily. I use on neck too. I'm a big fan

Lottapianos · 13/09/2022 13:09

Im tempted to start tretinoin via Dermatica. Good to read so many positive reviews. I do use SPF 50 every day and have a good skincare routine in general, and a healthy lifestyle. I've used retinol for a few years and have built up slowly to 1% Medik8 - never had any issues with peeling or flaking. Not sure whether to start tret or just press on with retinol

KittyCatsby · 13/09/2022 16:08

@Lottapianos

I think you will get better results with tret.
I posted dermatica code upthread , you get your first month for £2.90 and 2nd month for ( I think) 20/25% off.

Can I ask - what SPF are you using? I don't wear one all year round, it's part of my CC cream but I don't wear it daily.

I changed recently to an amazing moisturiser which has no SPF.

Boots collagen cream has spf 30 I'm very pleased with it during the day and dermatica at night

KBLondon · 13/09/2022 19:03

I wear Colorscience sun forgettable spf 50. I find that it diffuses light enough that I don't need to wear makeup on top (I had pretty bad melasma and it even helped disguise that better than foundation I think).

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 13/09/2022 20:33

The Dr Sam Tinted Spf is very nice but a bit pricey.

Cheap and cheerful, altruist face fluid

Tiddlywinkly · 13/09/2022 22:45

I've been with them since November last year. My prescription includes Tret. I'm not going to lie, my skin isn't particularly sensitive, but it was initially a rough ride. My skin dried up and I looked older. However...that doesn't last for that long and now my skin glows. It's easy to delay a next batch if you need.

Just don't do what I did and randomly decide to put on a higher strength prescription on my neck one day that I hadn't worked up to for that area. That caused a red (mild but noticeable) chemical burn that lasted a good 10 days 😄)

Twooforjoy · 14/09/2022 11:19

@Tiddlywinkly wowza I’ll be very careful in that case, I always need half of everything when it comes to my skin! But it calms down, it just doesn’t take much!

Great suggestions on the spf creams thank you all. I shot into boots to pick something up rather than buying online (weird how in-store now feels so novel!) limited stock so I’ve got LRP. I’m all set :D

I've been using Dermatica for 3 months or so now for Melasma on my forehead. I'm happy that it has really smoothed my skin out on the rest of my face too. The melasma is not completely gone yet, but much improved. Probably not helped by a hot summer, despite the factor 50 spf.

I was having acid peel facials every 6 weeks, and this keeps my skin looking as fresh as that. And I use 2 pumps of cream most nights and still don't use it all in 4 weeks.

Lottapianos · 14/09/2022 12:05

Thanks for all the info. I know it's not a good idea to put tret on your neck - what do you all use on your necks instead?

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 14/09/2022 12:13

For those who get tret via Dermatica - do you ask them for it or does it have to be recommended in your prescription by them?

I use Dermatica for rosacea and have definitely seen an improvement (used Skin+Me before and found it made no difference which was disappointing). But if I also want tret, do I have to go elsewhere or can I just ask Dermatica to prescribe it?

Stumpedasatree · 14/09/2022 12:45

You can definitely use tret on your neck! Just acclimatise to it gently when you first start using it. Dermatica is great and has 1000% helped my melasma.

Just ask them to change your formula. They have good customer service

I use on my neck. My skin tolerates it really well. If it didn't I would probably just use an over the counter Retinol that's not as powerful as Tret like Medik8

oddoneoutalways · 14/09/2022 13:20

I use Tret on my neck! My Dermatica treatment goes all over my face, down my neck and onto my chest (only thinly). No problems. I have 0.5% strength Tret.

I did build up gradually though. I had Adapalene (a lower strength and more easily tolerated Retinoid) for six months from the GP for acne who then refused to refer me to a Dermatologist for Tret unless I continued with the Adapalene and antibiotics for another whole year. So much for discouraging antibiotic use, hey. No.

So went with Dermatica, and started on a 0.25% Tret (plus two different antibiotics in the cream) to begin with. Had a bit of peeling if I used it daily to start with. Now I use it 6 out of 7 nights and it's fine. I find if I don't have that one night break I get a bit of peeling again. Nothing severe or sore, just a bit dry and flaky in patches.

Now my horrible painful acne has cleared (first time since my teens and I'm nearly 40) , my scarring is 100% better than it was (as in not really visible with make up), I've switched one of the antibiotics out for Azelaic Acid to help with some enlarged pores and upped the Tret to keep the acne in check and help with anti-aging before it really takes hold (luckily super oily skin had meant for me that I'm not too wrinkly - yet).

I'm totally happy with Dermatica and I recommend them to everyone. No exaggeration, that cream has totally, totally changed my skin.

Lottapianos · 14/09/2022 13:23

Ok, good to know that people have used it on their neck without problems

Twooforjoy · 15/09/2022 10:42

My package has arrived (oooh excited!!) meant to use it last night but fell asleep on the couch (having a tough 48 hours with a sick child)! So tonight's the night :D
