Ted Baker

I've bought a pair of Ted Baker wedges that were £125, not too expensive but more than I'd normally pay. A friend commented that they're not designer, more like wearing le coq sportif instead of Nike or Reebok, and they were a bit naff. I live them and plan on keeping them, but they also do a lovely leather bag that I want and she's put me off

Lots of people are snobby about TB. Personally I like them - I have bags, purses, a dress and a lovely pair of boots that I bought earlier this year that I'm looking forward to wearing when the weather changes. If you like the brand, go for it!

TheBeesKnee · 07/09/2022 15:06

I like Ted Baker and have 2 dresses, I usually buy myself one for my birthday as a treat.

I would ignore your friend, she is free to wear what she likes, as are you.

ShouldersBackChestOutChinUp · 07/09/2022 15:08

That was bitchy of her.

Also though who gives a shit about brand? You like it? You wear it. Regardless of what some fool thinks which brand is better. That is the halfwitted sheeple attitude.

NutellaEllaElla · 07/09/2022 15:10

She was rather rude.

DialsMavis · 07/09/2022 15:12

I really like Ted Baker and don't think its naff at all. Top end of high st rather than designer, but who even cares about that!

tillytoodles1 · 07/09/2022 15:21

Thanks everyone, I really like their stuff.

I like Ted Baker but their recent price hikes over the last few years have put me off.

tigerbear · 07/09/2022 16:00

It’s def not designer, but who cares, if you like it?
however, I think all clothing is over priced (I work in the industry and know the massive hikes in price compared to cost to make), and brands of this level are hugely inflated. Similar to Reiss, French Connection, Whistles etc, I think the prices are too high for the quality of the product.

HarleySq · 07/09/2022 21:12

@tigerbear

I'd be really interested in more information from you.
I like quality, the fabrics and in the making.

Which brands offer good value? I don't mind a higher price for quality but hate feeling I've paid a lot for rubbish!

Cestmoiici · 07/09/2022 23:41

Absolute bargains to be had on eBay if you’re TB size small. Some lovely pieces in store too but £££, even in the sale.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 07/09/2022 23:55

They're not naff and they're not designer. She doesn't have to like them but she sounds like a snob. Whether designer or not, £5 or £500 it doesn't matter

purpleme12 · 08/09/2022 00:00

Well they're designer to me.

But then who cares whether they're designer or not anyway?
And why are you letting what she said put you off?
If you like it you like it regardless of whether it's ted baker or not

justfiveminutes · 08/09/2022 06:02

Not designer, but some lovely clothes and accessories none-the-less. I think the quality is good compared to other high street stores, but rarely worth their full price. Sales and regular '20% off' event make them more reasonable. I avoid anything with branding but have wool coats, shoes, dresses and skirts that I love. I think your friend was unkind. If you like it, buy the bag.

Icedlatteplease · 08/09/2022 06:37

There quality is so poor for eye watering prices

girlmom21 · 08/09/2022 06:43

I bought a Ted Baker dress about 5 years ago that was absolutely stunning and fantastic quality and hid all the nasty lumps and bumps, but I've never seen anything even half as good since.

Their underwear quality isn't great.

I'd have thought they were designer but I guess not!

TartanGirl1 · 08/09/2022 07:35

TB is high end high street not designer imo but I like their stuff.

If you like their stuff then who cares what someone else thinks?

lindyloo57 · 08/09/2022 18:53

I only have one item from ted baker, a leather jacket it must be 6 years old and it still looks like new, and yes I wear it every winter its a thick one so nice and warm.

notacooldad · 08/09/2022 18:57

While I agree its is top end high street you friend was awful. Personally I would have rolled my eyes at her and said ," well someone designed it!!" and left it at that.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 08/09/2022 18:58

I've had a red baker handbag for years. I love it.

ZenNudist · 08/09/2022 19:00

Your friend is jealous. So what if they're high street?

dudsville · 08/09/2022 19:03

Lots of people make mean comments. If you like something, wear it.

BusySittingDown · 08/09/2022 19:06

I like Ted Baker but I would agree that it isn't designer - more like top end high street. It's expensive for what it is as there's a lot of polyester.

I feel the same about Radley bags. Some people refer to them as "designer".

It doesn't matter! If you like it and can afford it, wear it.

ImAvingOops · 08/09/2022 19:11

Everything is designed by someone - the concept of 'designer' is ridiculous, unless talking about clothes which are specifically made for you personally.
I don't know about their clothes but I think the bags are nice - I have one and it's very well made, nice heavy chain, leather that still looks new despite being a few years old.
Your 'friend' is a bitch.
