Help with this outfit

Spend my life either in work dresses and at weekend am mostly in wellingtons. Am going for a city day out with a girl friend (in very hip UK city). Involves a bit of window shopping, a few cocktails, some nice dinner and no husband or children (love them and all but hurrah!). Want an outfit that is suitable for day/night. Thinking skinny jeans and top to hide less that perfect figure. Have small-ish top half (prob 10) but wide hips and bigger bottom, thought (prob 12 on bottom). Want to wear nice heels. Maybe a bit of sparkle.

Disclaimer: life is bloody hard at the moment and looking forward to a bit of frivolity!

And I'm short...

Well jeans are a safe option. Neon trouser suits (or brights) are still fashionable. Definitely a more glam option! Also the Sunday Times was big on plaids and checks this weekend. So silky shirt, plaid or houndstooth cardi and jeans would be fashionable.

Black skinny jeans, bum skimming loose vest top, faux leather jacket and wedges.
New look have some fab wedges and skinny jeans or if your feeling daring wet look jeans, lovely jackets in zara, vest tops zara or h&m, dress it up with jewellery

Don’t wear that! Why faux leather? Those clothes are like a uniform. There’s a lot more fun to be had!

Are you able to wear heels all day walking around? If so I'd probably go for looser-fitting jeans, 'barely there' heeled sandals, a silky and/or lace trimmed camisole top and a linen blazer in a bright colour. Long handled bag and sunglasses to accessorise.

Take a slightly bigger bag and change shoes for cocktails and dinner.

Skinny jeans are not really fashionable anymore - straight leg if you have them or any trousers. I'd wear nice trainers or low heeled boots as I couldn't spend a day walking around in heels.
Nice top - floral is still in so a blouse with small pattern. I like very long (ankle length) open cardigan if on the chillier side.

I am tall though.

Floral has had its day in fashion. Might be in the shops but there’s a time lag. Plaids, checks, hounds tooth or plain are better options right now. Less Laura Ashley, more chic. Definitely wide jeans.
