White of nails

Are the tips of my nails weird ?
I've taken a pic of one from both hands. The tips seem too deep to me. Are they ?
I also know they are ridged but can't get rid of them.

Did you used to bite your nails?

SardineJam · 07/09/2022 07:10

I was going to ask the same as PP, if you'd been biting them down and that's their new 'starting' point?

KittyCatsby · 07/09/2022 08:44

Thanks for your replies . I have been going through a few stressful years and have bitten them.
Are you both saying as they grow and are filed/cut it will improve ?

I don’t think they will grow. The pink bit of my nails are very short, but I bit my nails for years as a child.
saying that, my children have similar nails to me, and they’ve never bitten them so perhaps it’s genetic.

WhatIsThisPlease · 07/09/2022 09:42

I don't think they'll grow. They've essentially become detached from the nail bed.

My right hand looks more like yours from years of accidentally cutting them too short with my left hand (I'm right handed).

The white part is above my fingers so they are going.
