Botox - too expensive...sob sob

whiteonesugar · 06/09/2022 15:35

I've been getting botox on my forehead every 3/4 months for about a year now and i think I will have to give it up with the increasing cost of simply living.

I am sad about this. Is anyone else in the same boat? What else can I do to try and prevent the lines? Other than never move my face....!

How much does it cost? I've been saving up but I've no idea tbh.

passionfruitpariah · 06/09/2022 15:43

Some salons offer payment plans where I live, for example you can pay in 3 using PayPal credit and I know other salons use other finance options. Have a look

LouiseOuiOui · 06/09/2022 15:44

Try frownies!

thedevilinablackdress · 06/09/2022 15:45

Could a change of hairstyle help with getting used to not having it, or just hiding your forehead if you don't like it. Hope that doesn't sound flippant, not intended to.

passionfruitpariah · 06/09/2022 15:54

I said salons but I meant clinics lol

MintyGreenDreams · 06/09/2022 16:07

@YellowHpok it's around £180 where I am S Yorkshire at a reputable clinic

ChilliPB · 06/09/2022 16:20

Worth trying this?

whiteonesugar · 06/09/2022 16:42

@YellowHpok it's £225 for me as I have it in 2 areas. Usually I put money away each month to pay for it but I am having to use that on other things (like food and petrol - sob)

@ChilliPB Oh i will have a look at that - I do use some ordinary bits already.

@LouiseOuiOui I've seen this, do they work or are they yet another thing I will get suckered in by and waste money haha

Great idea, OP. You should totally get into debt for Botox.

bootseason · 06/09/2022 16:58

Any of those over the counter 'filler' products any good for forehead wrinkles? I'm glad I haven't started Botox, I've been tempted

DivorcedAndDelighted · 06/09/2022 18:15

Do you need it that often? Often people find that after the first couple of treatments, it lasts much longer. I went 3 months between the first two, then about 4 or 5 months, and treatment 3 seemed to last for about 9 months. I'll just be spacing mine out now.

passionfruitpariah · 06/09/2022 18:59

@Iamthewombat OP asked for solutions and that is a solution, you don't know her financial situation do you 😂 thanks for your intelligent input though hun

LouiseOuiOui · 06/09/2022 19:19

@whiteonesugar I use one for my 11s frown and it does work but you have to do it every night. You can still use the muscle of course but it stops you using it during the night and flattens the crease out. I would say it would get you longer in between treatments as a minimum.

We do know her financial situation. She can't afford it. Payment plans and financing is a form of dept.

Iamthewombat · 06/09/2022 20:22

Run a Botox salon/clinic yourself, eh, passionfruit? Keen to assure the future revenue stream?

superplumb · 06/09/2022 21:15

I'd doubt you need it every 3 months, try 6. I get it on my 11s and now find I can go longer in inbetween appointments

whiteonesugar · 06/09/2022 21:34

@superplumb it does seem to wear off fairly quickly on me but I’ll try and stretch it out, by 4 months I really notice the movement and lines coming back.

i will give frownies a go as an interim
and I’ve ordered stuff suggested up thread.

Frownies are meant to be very good.

Every 3/4 months seems excessive anyway.

microbius · 07/09/2022 00:29

Frownies are very good if you tense your face at night. Especially good for 11, I counted get it work for anything else. I transitioned from brownies to art tape (£3 for meters and meters). The paper is thinner but it still works. Great savings too

its not a solution for affordability. If you can’t afford something, putting it on payments doesn’t suddenly make it feasible. Debt can be fine for something really big like a house or a car. Small debt is just robbing from yourself next month.

urghnotthisagain · 07/09/2022 01:10

I use the Plum app that rounds up my spends on a certain account to the nearest pound and puts it in a savings account and that's my Botox/filler money.
I know it's still saving and spending but I feel like I don't notice it at all.

@urghnotthisagain I use the same feature in Monzo to pay for my eyebrow micro blading top up! It’s a good way to save a little bit each month without noticing it and it builds up.

Have you discussed this with your doctor?

RosetteNebula · 07/09/2022 11:46

Anti wrinkle plasters at night and try to control your facial expressions during the day so as not to worsen wrinkles (can be difficult I know!) I bought some from Amazon and cover my entire forehead with them before bed. I look absolutely ridiculous lol. You can also use medical tape which is cheaper.
