wide trousers look if you are petite, what to wear on top

I am once again trying to update my wardrobe. If you are petite and intend to wear this season's wide legged trousers, what do you wear on top. How not to look completely swamped. Any pics or suggestions would be great.

I’m 5ft 2 and have been wearing wide legs with a fitted top which I half tuck in. Any top which is baggy and long just looks wrong.

I'm 5'3" and wear wide leg trousers with fitted tops that end halfway between waist and hip, anything longer looks a bit off. Tucked in works too but I don't like how it looks on me as I have too much boob.

A fitted t shirt. Low v neck for me as I have huge boobs!

Something pretty tight/fitted on top, tucked in. Blouse/shirt or t-shirt or jumper, depending on how cold it is.

I am petite and love the wide leg look on others but can't seem to get it to work on me. I tuck a tee in but then feel self-conscious about my bum, so end up wearing a long cardi over it! Maybe the trousers I have just aren't very flattering on my bum!

I too agve huge boobs but the wide legs balance them out so I find you can go tucked iIn and fitted. M same with a fitted jumper, which finishes at the hip.

Thanks all. I find it pretty easy in the summer and do indeed go with the cropped wide leg trousers plus a tight tee. But I don't know what to do in winter without looking to severe or matronly.

For those who dont do the wide leg trouser look, what are you doing instead this season

Crew neck or v neck jumper with wide leg trousers - I always tuck in as it’s more flattering. Lightweight jumpers from Uniqlo are good for that.

I'm petite and find it hard to find shorter tops/jumpers to wear with my wide leg trousers, I'm short waisted too, so I really struggle as when I try to tuck there's too much bulk

Me too. I'm also pretty slender in every area except my stomach, so I'm finding it really difficult to find wide leg trousers that don't show my muffin top/love handles even though in theory you would think these trousers would skim over that bit, but they don't! I also have this same problem with mom jeans.

You could try jumpers with a deep ribbed hem, or straight line that end just below waist on hip

And what kind of coat do people suggest?

Doe anyone else follow anyone useful on insta or youtube?? I feel like I can find plenty of useful advice on the latest fashions in general but less so for us petites - but with mostly shopping online now, it's much harder to predict what will/wont suit

Yes really good question about what coat to wear with a wide leg, but also what shoes do people wear? Being petite I like a little block heel but not sure that works with wide leg? I'd too like to know who to follow on social media for petite fashion!

Oversized cardigan. Keep the tight top

Wide leg with good fitting waist- usually tightly fitting over the lower back and upper bum, then wider leg. Tight crop top or tucked in top. Then if needed a cropped fitted jacket, it's good tailoring that makes it less swampy

@middleofthelittle that's what I used to wear back in the day. Do you wear your cardigans long or cropped?

Style wise I bought two of these recently and wear undone.

They also sell knitted/ribbed vest tops which are nice underneath

I am also petite and love the wide leg look. I wear them with fitted jumpers from Uniqlo for work or with Allsaints t-shirts
