Adapting my summer dresses for winter

I have a couple of dresses which I bought for holiday and have worn once. I was about to pack them away, but wondered if they would see me through winter as workwear, if I added thick tights and thermal black polo neck.

I need some new workwear, but I absolutely hate shopping these days.

Thoughts please? (They are not as short on me!)

They’re lovely. They’d be a little short for me for work but depends what your job is I suppose. I wear my work dresses with thermal leggings, boots, a vest top underneath and cardigan over the top in winter.

Yes, definitely, especially the spotty dress.

Thick tights, flat boots and a cardigan will see you through.

Thank you. I shall get ordering the polo necks and tights.

With at least one day working from home and a casual Friday, it means that adding these to my existing jumper dresses cuts down the shopping list a good bit.

When you order the polo neck, best to go for a light knitted one for winter, rather than cotton. They are a bit softer and sit better under dresses I find

You could try Heattech tops from Uniqlo. They are really (really!!) warm and sit well under dresses because they are deceptively thin Ann's lightweight to wear.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was looking at the M&S HeatGen ones, but will shop around.

I love that spotty dress, where was it from?

I do this op with similar dresses. I put on leggings, boots and a chunky cardigan with them.

I live in M&S Heatgen tops all winter. I buy my actual size to wear under dresses, jumpers, cardigans etc and one size up to wear over yoga tops for yoga sessions. They are so warm and cosy and wash really well and dry quickly over a clothes horse.
