Can I put normal polish over gel?

Just got gels redone on my hands and feet, ready for my holiday next week and I love the colour on my hands but hate my toes! The colour looked lovely in the bottle but sort of blends with my skin tone and looks like I have no nails! I do t have time to go back before I go away. Can I just paint a regular polish over the top? I realise this defeats the whole purpose and I'm really annoyed at myself about the waste of money.

Google says yes

Thank you yes I saw that too. I was more wondering whether anyone else had actually done it?

Been doing this for years! The gels give a lovely smooth base to paint on and if you're careful, you can take the normal polish off to reveal the gel still intact underneath!

You definitely can I do it all the time.

You can 100% do it.

When gel nails first started there weren’t any colours. The gel was clear and the colour was ordinary polish painted on top. So, yes, you can definitely do it!

Ah this is great news. Thanks everyone. I'm going to do it this evening then when the kids go to bed. Lesson learned about needing more contrast against my skin. I normally go to the nail place with a clear idea of what colour I want but I wasn't planning on getting my toes redone. I sort of decided at the last second which is always a bad idea.
