Doc martens and jeans

I have been advised by a podiatrist to wear lace up shoes and have insoles I have to put in. I want to get some doc martens but not sure what jeans to wear with them.

I have size 8 wide feet and am 5’ 9” and a size 16. In the past I have worn wide legged or boot leg jeans on the basis they were ‘slimming’ but over the last few years have worn skinny jeans.

I just worry that my enormous feet will look ridiculous on the end of legs clad in skinny jeans. Should I get wider legged jeans?

thanks in advance….

I’ve just posted a link about DMs supporting Merma**ds. Here it is again.

I wear straight leg jeans with mine as I've got size 7.5 feet. Skinny jeans just look daft. I also have some slightly cropped mom style jeans that look good with them

I used to wear DMs years ago but with dresses. I'm sure the trend has passed though! How about slim rather than skinny jeans?

Nishky32 · 04/09/2022 17:48

Thanks @forlornlorna1 and @AlwaysLatte - I think I need to try on different jeans with the shoes. You have confirmed that skinny are not the way to go

@Soontobe60 - I saw that almost immediately after I made my post. Will have a look at the link.

I have always worn docs but recently switched to Solovair. They are the factory that used to make docs and are how docs should be made. They are fantastic and take much less wearing in than docs! uk.nps-solovair.com/?countrycode=GB

Ooh- thanks @Orangesarenottheonlyfruit - will have a look

Second Solovairs!

Any of the non-skinny jeans styles would be great. 501s are a classic.

I'm 5'9 with size 8 (9 in DMs) and I frequently wear skinny jeans with them. Looks fine, certainly nobody has taken a second glance (and I would be sensitive to that and notice), and I don't look in the mirror and see my clown feet....

follygirl · 05/09/2022 21:42

If you buy Pascal DMs, there is no wearing them in as the leather is supple and they are comfortable from the start.

Arnaquer · 05/09/2022 21:45

I wear M&S boyfriend jeans slightly rolled up

Just to throw in another option, I have these from Birkenstock and they are a dream. www.birkenstock.com/gb/bryson--grained-leather/bryson-grainedleather-grainedleather-0-thermorubber-u_3974.html

Love those Birkenstock Ebba boots

InglouriousBasterd · 07/09/2022 08:35

I wear boyfriend jeans with pascals - no wearing in, I have size 8 feet so it balances!!

SuperCamp · 07/09/2022 09:07

M&S Boyfriend jeans are fantastic.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/09/2022 09:14

Yes M and S boyfriend jeans are indeed fantastic. So fantastic my 16 year old dd pinched both pairs of mine.

Another vote for Solovair. I'd go for the Astronaut, or their equivalent, Jade boots, on the Toast site
