Help! Does this outfit work?

After years of looking a bit frumpy as I couldn't afford to look nice, recently I've been able to make a little more effort with how I dress and I'm starting to feel more confident. But I'm not always sure what "works" and what doesn't.

I'm going for lunch in the city today, a possible networking opportunity with colleagues, so I'm thinking smart casual?

A possible outfit choice is skinny jeans, tab boots, cream sheer blouse but I'm not sure what jacket to wear... would a grey casual blazer work or is that going to clash? Hand bag is navy and tan. I think it looks OK but not entirely sure if grey, navy and tan all work well together.

I think that sounds nice.

What sort of budget do you have for clothes - and do you want to look up to date? So people can direct you to brands / shops. Also, if you spend a lot of time browsing online shops like Matches Fashion or Net-a-Porter you get an idea of how clothes are being put together in a completely contemporary (upmarket) style.

Can’t really tell about your suggested outfit. On the whole women who want to look fashionable - say in London - aren’t necessarily wearing skinny jeans right now, but that’s not to say you won’t look perfectly nice.

Unfortunately I don't really suit any other jeans, so it's either igh waisted skinny jeans or the wide leg flowy trousers (high waisted), with a top tucked in. I think that seems to suit my shape well. I'm hour glass but quite large of boob and a bit of a belly. I'm 35.
I don't know if I want to look fashionable and super trendy, just nice and like I've made an effort rather than badly fitting jeans and scruffy t shirt.

I don't have a huge budget so currently tend to get jeans, blazers and jackets off vinted. Tops and blouses usually from zara or h&m, sometimes next.

I went for it with the outfit and I think it looked OK 🙃

It's sounds like a lovely outfit. I'm still wearing skinny jeans too.

Sounds lovely - smart-casual and not too try-hard. The tan in your bag will bring it all together, I think. Hope it goes well.

Too late! Hope it went well :)
