Versatile Autumn jacket ideas please

Slowly turning my thoughts to Autumn dressing including a rare work trip to London.

Feel like I need inspiration for a really versatile Autumn jacket - denim and leather jackets just seem a bit dated to me now.
I have a navy blue trench coat I have never worn which might help for the London trip if it's chilly but what will I wear for the school
Run and casual nights out ?

Anyone found something versatile enough to wear with jeans and dresses ?

I've picked up a tweed jacket that works well with dresses or jeans. It's not fitted into the waist, more of a mens jacket shape.

I've never been able to find a versatile jacket hence why I have tens of them, from blazers to denim to leather to trenches to raincoats to parkas.. yeah you get the idea!

I found a navy chunky cord double breasted blazer on ebay last year. It is literally my perfect autumn jacket. Goes with work clothes and jeans. Perfect.

I like the Barbour quilted jackets they look good with most things!

I have a 'donkey jacket' that I got from John Lewis Kin range last winter, and a velvet short coat from White Stuff. Both a bit different and a bit smarter than my school run and shopping coat which is a Camo parka.

I like the lightly quilted or boucle shackets, they can work well over dresses and jeans.

Yes this is me I have a wardrobes worth of coats and jackets too - I have accumulated them over several years and find I only reach for a few of them these days
Just wanted a lightweight jacket .. I think the challenge is finding something multi purpose !

Try Uniqlo, they have lots at the moment. And don't underestimate the shirt as jacket idea for school run!

I'm just trying to look less crap when walking the dog, so following for ideas

A chore jacket in corduroy?

I've actually just had this delivered after all our deliberations here about jackets and I love it, its more substantial that I was banking on, but it's a total bargain for £23.50...it's also not as long as it looks in the model, could definitely be worn over dresses.
