Do you have my colouring? What shades of lipstick do you wear?

I have dark brown hair which is currently naturally 'chestnutty' with the sun. My skin has a warm undertone with a few freckles at the moment. I have green eyes.

Do you have a similar colouring to me? And, if so, what colour lipstick do you wear?! I'm looking for something fairly neutral that I can wear during the day, but I'm getting totally outfaced when I go to the make up counters. I don't usually wear anything bar a lip balm, but I fancy a change.

Well, when I say 'fairly neutral', hit me with anything - I need to stride towards those counters with purpose!

Maybelline 24 hr super stay - shade Rose dust is wonderfully natural on me and really lasts! I’m similar colouring.

I think you would like perricone “no make up” lipstick, it’s not cheap but the original pink is the best neutral lipstick ever for my similar colouring, and the red is great too - red but without being too full on. They’re like halfway betweeen balm and lipstick. I got mine much cheaper in a special offer so look out for offers. link

Ester Lauder - they have some really nice neutrals that enhance. I’m very similar colouring - I’ve managed to avoid looking like a 40s siren which is how red lipstick makes me look.

Bobbi brown in neutral rose. It's a really nice consistency too - I find a lot of other lipsticks are too drying.

Bobbi brown blue raspberry is my favourite natural.

Same colouring, I wear Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk original in matte

Trinny London has a match2me function on the website which gives suggestions for colours in the range that would suit you- maybe give that a burl.

It really helps to try a few colours so you see what works with your skin tone. Blue red or orange red? Warm brown or cool brown? If you look at online swatches that can help too.

Thanks @learieonthewildmoor . I definitely suit warm tones more than cool. Blue based reds or ashy browns make me look ill!

The problems have, though, when faced with 'my lips but better' shades, is deciding what is warm and what is cool. Can be hard to tell sometimes (well, for me anyway!)

I've similar colouring and have a Trinny lipstick in a pot that's a sort of coral, just a touch gives me a great natural look, in the winter I stick a slick of lip balm over it.

I am your colouring! Estée Lauder intense nude is the darkest shade I wear, which is very similar to Mac Milk in my coffee or coffee with milk or something like that, it’s like a brown (for want of a better description)

Estée Lauder baby cashmere is the deepest pink that I wear

Estée Lauder insatiable ivory is the Matt nude that I wear but it has been discontinued so I need a new one

These are all warm tones

Boots No 7 do a great lip crayon that are half lipstick, half lip balm so the colour is a little softer - they’re a bit like the old Clinique Chubby Sticks

Blush and Raspberry both look good on my colouring (same tones, slightly darker hair tho)

Bonus that Boots always seem to have some kind of deal on No 7 and you can also use up Advantage points to get them for free

I do! My favourite is Laura Mercier Baby Lips. A make up artist suggested it to me.

I have similar colouring, although I’d say my hair is more ‘coppery’ than ‘chestnutty’.

I bought a new lipstick recently by Maybelline called Smoky Rose. I’m pleased with it.

I’m similar colouring to you and I love the Clinique Chubby Lip balm in Fuller Fig. It’s very natural and easy to apply. A light touch gives a subtle look, more layers give a stronger look. It’s a kind of berry colour with a slight brown/orange undertone.

For a cheaper option, I like Revolution Pro Satin Matte lipstick in Rumba, which is a very flattering brown shade that’s so wearable, and - bonus! - makes your teeth look whiter! It’s not at all drying and looks so nice with my colouring.

My absolute me-but-better is Bobbi Brown sandwash pink

Well, after several laps of my local department store and testing more lipsticks than I care to remember. Who knew so many lipsticks could be so similar?!

I finally went for Mac 'Creme in your coffee'. On me, it's a fairly neutral shade with a rosy undertone. Makes my green eyes look greener too.
