Perfect work trousers?

Usually I just go with skirts as I'm 5'3 and can't be bothered adjusting things, but I'm feeling the need for some decent work trousers. Anyone seen any great ones? Or can recommend a particular shop?

Wishlist:
Some elastic on the waist so comfortable for sitting in all day (and I have more of a stomach than I'd like right now).
Solid enough to hold in blouses and shirts, with a French tuck.
Neutral colour/pattern which works with everything but maybe a bit of texture.
Not so wide that they look silly on a short person, and not so skinny that they look outdated.
Work with loafers and boots.

Budget up to £100.

I think that's called the holy grail. Watching with interest as I've been searching for exactly these trousers (but more button or clip fastening) for bloody months! I'm a bit taller, so trying to get a trouser that doesn't look like it's sitting half-mast with loafers seems to be an issue at the moment, everything is an ankle grazer.

Cinnamonandcoal · 30/08/2022 11:59

Ha yes. Holy grail.
I like ankle grazers as they are basically full length on me.
I don't mind what fastening but I want some stretch in the waistband.

I got some like this from Zara. They tick all your boxes and also don't need ironing. However Zara is a nightmare to shop in - I find the way it's laid out quite confusing - and the website is also terrible. I found these ones by chance.

Not sure how to link, but have a look at Cos. They have a lot of trousers including one pair which are a relaxed fitting fine corduroy with some elastic, for £69.

I have zara high waisted trousers which i love, they are tapered, ankle length and very flattering - annoyingly they have increased in price, I first got them at £25.99, then got some green ones at £27.99 and they are now £29.99 - cheeky.

Oh well still a lot less than £100.
I like the Cos ones (I like them in green too) and might try those on although I suspect they won't be particularly flattering.

@FionaMacCool yes, that was them

These are in my view the holy grail of work trousers. They're essentially super smart joggers but look like trousers, the waist stays flat but has stretch- I love them
