Non frumpy flatish shoe

Have tried finding flat shoes that aren’t too frumpy without success. Am about to resign myself to wearing the two pairs of work shoes I still have until they are full of holes, then making an unsuitable desperation purchase that I dislike intensely each morning when I put them on.

Anyone able to recommend some mid priced brands that I could consider? Happy to pay up to £80-£150 per pair for ones that last.

I don’t mind a ballet flat if it has a proper sole and heel, can’t stand a loafer as it makes me look like like my 75 year old mother. Chelsea boots or DMs are a bit to casual for work, but a smart trainer is sort of ok. Love animal print, patterns, colours, leather, suede. Also have very narrow feet just to make it extra difficult to buy from the high street. Work in events hospitality, so can be on my feet for up to 14/16 hours a day during busy days.

I would be ever grateful if anyone can give me a
shove in the right direction for a high street or online brand that I should try. TIA.

It’s a shame you don’t want to look like your mother, as loafers are particularly fashionable this year and every shop is selling them.

Otherwise:

Emilia Wickstead.

Cos ballet flats.

Or have a look at Grenson, which has a sale at the moment.

I have Carl Scarpa loafers in a subtle gold colour and I love them. Personally I think loafers are a lot more flattering than ballet flats.

Gabor are super comfy and supportive and sometimes have styles that aren’t too hideous

I have these in camel. A baller flat loafer cross. Good quality. Very narrow.

I haven't tried them personally but have my eye on a pair of air and grace shoes that are sort of like if a loafer went to glasto. Might be worth a try? The loafer your mum doesn't have.

I'm embracing the frumpy and just wearing my hotters with style!!

However I saw these in the flesh at the weekend and they were super cute - the lady trying them had a maxi dress and made me think....I wish I was that effortlessly stylish! Lol.

That link should be to the pastel rainbow colour - white with a rainbow switch....

I really like the pointed toe flats from Vivaia: https://www.vivaia.com

They are made from recycled plastic bottles and are machine washable, they are super comfortable for my wide feet and come in a zillion colours. They are not the cheapest but last forever and look smart enough for work.

Snoodleberry · 30/08/2022 22:40

Amazing, thanks all. Definitely some for me to order this weekend.

Love the range of shoes on Vivaia @CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory !!

Its great that Hotter do slim fit shoes @Mumdiva99 and I love the rainbow canvas switch shoes. Thanks!

Never heard of Air and Grace @Isonthecase but love the style. Definitely not a shoe my mum would wear. 😂

I do ❤️ a green shoe @TheOGCCL and those are very nice! Thanks.

I know, and I hate myself for it, but very occasionally they come through. They have a pair of Chelsea boots right now which are inoffensive

Yikes, there are some ugly shoes on this thread!

I'm boring - tend to find that Clarks usually have something that will do for work, and they're usually comfortable. I got these in black leather and in leopard print suede in the sale recently.
