I think I’ve settled on the below for my baby’s Christening. What shoes and accessories would you go for?

Are you sure you wouldn’t prefer this dress? Better colours for early Autumn and a crisper silhouette. (Plus 20% off at the moment.)

If you stick with the dress you’ve chosen - these shoes would look quite elegant with it.

I've just bought this dress and a very similar red one off their site.

Beautiful!

Thanks @MuddlerInLaw but it’s summer to me! And those shoes really aren’t my style. But thanks for the suggestion

Those shoes are ugly and are far too dark and clumpy for the dress you've picked.

I would wear red or green ballet flats with your dress. My go to is Pretty Ballerina but they might be too pricey but if you Google "red ballet flats" loads of options appear.

inappropriateraspberry · 28/08/2022 10:13

Do you want heels or flats? Do you want a jacket or cover of some sort? A denim jacket would look nice, but may be too casual.
If heels, I'd stick to some simple black or nude shoes, strappy rather than court/covered style or it could make the dress look quite frumpy.

Juicylychee · 28/08/2022 10:23

Heels, I’m short and I feel like I look really dumpy in flats!

Red shoes would be fun, and pull out the colour in the dress.

Red heels then.

They are perfect for that dress.

Juicylychee · 28/08/2022 18:59

Do you think red espadrilles would match?

Juicylychee · 29/08/2022 17:15

I’m having a sudden crisis of confidence today and worried it is really frumpy

OP posts:
inappropriateraspberry · 29/08/2022 18:20

The dress is lovely, but that style can look frumpy or casual depending on what you wear with it. Do you have a pic of the espadrilles?

Juicylychee · 29/08/2022 18:35

No I don’t have any yet. I want to look amazing not casual!

OP posts:
NLondondiva · 29/08/2022 18:50

How tall are you? I think that dress does look a bit frumpy at that length on the model but on a shorter person it would be fine.

Pinkcadillac · 29/08/2022 19:26

I think the dress is lovely. I'd wear shoes like these:Asos and a straw bag, maybe this: bag

Juicylychee · 29/08/2022 19:59

Thank you I feel I’ve totally lost my way since becoming a mum

OP posts:
PegottyPie · 29/08/2022 20:06

Sorry but I do think that dress is frumpy. The one MudderInLaw posted is much nicer

Juicylychee · 29/08/2022 20:29

I’m short with a big bust

OP posts:
inappropriateraspberry · 29/08/2022 22:28

How short? Where will the dress finish on you, at the ankles?

inappropriateraspberry · 29/08/2022 22:30

There are so many dresses in this style around at the mo, and they are very easy to dress down with trainers or flats. I think to dress it up, you really need dressier shoes than espadrilles, something a bit finer and less 'heavy.'

LyndaLaHughes · 30/08/2022 00:14

Sorry I'm not a fan of that dress for a christening either. It's more of an everyday summer dress to me.

Juicylychee · 30/08/2022 11:21

I might keep it but look for something else for the occasion.
