Black tie wedding attire, ideas please!

Just that really! Need some ideas, please. It will be quite a fancy, formal affair, I think. Would like to look fabulous whilst abiding by black tie wedding etiquette (what exactly is that, please?!). TIA.

Just to clarify, I’m a guest! 🙈

Is it daytime or evening?

waltzingparrot · 25/08/2022 17:23

What's your budget?

MadameSapphire · 25/08/2022 17:40

Thank you for the questions (and happy to answer any others!). It’s daytime and evening - ceremony at 12, then wedding breakfast and evening do. Budget = up to £200 for main outfit (unless pieces are going to be super-useful/versatile separates) and up to £200 on accessories.

I too am going to a black tie wedding in December, following with hope!

Knee length is fine for black tie (although if you have a fancy floor length dress you really like, that's fine also). A smart cocktail dress or trouser suit works.

What size are you?
How tall are you?
Which bits of your body do you like?
Have you got big boobs?
Do you wear heels?

MadameSapphire · 26/08/2022 17:46

@Madamecastafiore, size 8, 5ft 3in, like my shoulders, small waist and arms, small boobs (but need support of some kind, although would consider tape if needs be!), do wear heels. 😊

I was a guest for a similar wedding recently. Cocktail dresses seemed to work best. The full length dresses were a little odd looking at noon. The cocktail dresses were good all day.

Have a look at Self Portrait dresses. Net a porter or even eBay. They're beautifully made and it's unlikely someone else will have one on. Might be a bit of an investment.
