Phillips lumea on face

Is it worth shaving my upper lip to use the Phillips lumea on? I'm sick and tired of having to use depilatory cream to keep my moustache under control and I have a lumea but I'm wary of shaving my face. Will it be the miracle cure I'm looking for or will I just end up with stubble and look like a man with a five o'clock shadow on my in between days?

I have one, I don’t think you need to shave first. Hair grows in cycles, so it will start working on the ones you can’t see yet, and it will burn off the ones you can see. Use a white lip liner / eye liner around your lips so the flash deflects from there. You should see a difference quite quickly, then keep at it over coming weeks, then just top up occasionally - but no need to shave.

I find it quite effective on my upper lip, after a few months of use I only have the odd, lighter brown hair which I think is too fair for it to pick up.

I use depilatory cream first.

@TheOnlyBeeInYourBonnet when you use the depilatory cream, do you do it straight away or leave it a day or so? My skin feels sensitive after I use depilatory cream so I wonder if the lumea could damage the skin. It says to wait a day if you wax rather than shave.

I shaved before using the Lumea on upper lip and after doing a couple months of sessions every two weeks as suggested my stache was GONE. I didn't look like I had shadow while I was doing it, certainly no worse than the stache itself! The hair has stayed gone and it's been a few years. I do treat it again with one quick zap every 3 months or so just in case but excellent result. Wish there had been Lumeas when I was a teenager, would have saved so much angst.

Hasn't worked so well on hormonal chin hair, alas.

I do it straight away, but I can't see a problem with waiting a day if you're worried.

Thanks all! I'm gonna bite the bullet and do it. So long moustache 🥸

I have one but haven’t used it yet.

I epilate my tash. Can I epilate and then use the lumar?

Reluctantadult · 26/08/2022 07:51

It's not worked on my chin hairs either @EverybodysALebowski , then professional ipl didn't either, I've booked electrolysis in next.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 26/08/2022 07:59

I use it and it works really well; better if you shave first. You won't get stubble.

EverybodysALebowski · 26/08/2022 08:01

hope the electrolysis works for you @Reluctantadult . I'm beginning to think my chin hairs are actually bamboo or something, given how quickly and aggressively they grow and require daily tweezer patrol. Oh well, at least the mustache is gone and that was way more troubling and visible.
