So tired of the old hooded school run rain jacket!

What is there which feels a bit more polished? I've been wearing the same lightweight hooded showerproof parka type things for so many years and I just feel scruffy and dated now. I would love something more structured, like a neat trench but with the benefit of a hood. Is such a thing available? Something a bit smarter than the old waterproof?

Oh, and not in camel or beige. I look terrible in camel or beige.
Or something more military? A structured jacket that isn't bulky?

I wear a waxed jacket and a hat - actually, it's a fedora! It sounds a bit twee written down but it's the best combination for me, hoods never stay up for me for some reason.

Protected species jackets. Not cheap but they look great and the waterproofing is amazing.

Happy to wear a slouchy knitted hat when the weather turns. Normal hats just don't suit me.

That's too long for me plus I think something neat at the waist would be good. I think its one of those things I'll always be searching for!

I keep hoping that smart coats and rain hats will come into fashion as normal daily wear. I never see anyone in a rain hat! sheepishly puts rainhat in pocket again after looking around and being the only one with a rainhat once again

Uniqlo have nice waterproof coats. I’ve got a navy knee length one which I got in the sale a few years ago, and it still looks like new.

Last year Tesco had this in beige, this year it’s navy. Saw it in Tesco at summer , went back but there was none left. However Next now sell Tesco clothes , it’s great for £45

You can get Trench coats with a hood that can be removed (by unbuttoning), I have one from Sandro and one from Zara. Navy and black.

I have that Tesco raincoat in black and love it. Was about to splash out on a Protected species one too!
