Stupid question about a dress

I'm feeling a bit silly right now, because I usually know my way around clothes like a proper adult should 🙈

I bought a dress in the Karen Millen sale (pics attached) and didn't really look closely at the photos at the time

It has this length of cord attached to the neckline (you can actually see it on the model but not on the photo of just the dress), and I'm not sure whether you're supposed to wear it like this or whether it's meant to be cut off?

I know dresses sometimes come with loops to help with staying on the hanger, but the fact that this one is in the same colour and fabric as the dress is throwing me off.

One the one hand, I think it looks a bit odd. On the other hand I don't want to cut it off if it's there for a good reason.

Help please? 😂

It's designed to be worn across the back of the neck - don't cut it off, it holds the neckline in place or it will go slack on either side.

I think it's too keep the shoulders up, but I'm not speaking from experience!

It looks odd, it cut it off!

Thanks, 2 to 1 so I'll leave it on!

Leave it on. I know from making clothes that you can’t have a low neck and a low back without anything to keep it from falling off your shoulders.

If you or someone you know can sew you might be able to have a short length of ribbon or tape sewn onto the shoulder seams which you then slip under your bra straps and is held in place with snap fasteners. It will depend on how wide the neckline of the dress is. You can then cut the cord off.

Definitely meant to be there.

It looks odd BUT it is meant to be there.
