Nicer looking nails

I can't afford to have my nails done professionally but as a treat I have had acrylics for the last couple of weeks. I am having them removed today. I have loved having nice looking nails.

I have wide nails that I usually cut short as they break otherwise. I don't paint them as it chips quickly.

However, the paint job on these has been incredible and has not chipped. I suspect it is gel polish as they used UV to cure it.

Any recommendations on polish I could use to get a similar effect? I know i can ask in the salon but it'll be a very expensive one I'm sure.

I have a UV light as I picked one up in a charity shop, ignorantly thinking it would cure normal nail polish.

TIA

I love a simple French manicure! You cannot go wrong! Xx

Thanks MummaB22 but I'm looking for recommendations on what brand of polish. I think I definitely could go wrong trying to do my own french manicure lol!

If they break easily you need to start taking a hair nails and skin multivitamin, Perfectil is a good one but I think supermarket own brands are just as effective too. Then invest in a decent cuticle oil (use daily) and nail strengthening base coat, apply this regularly. Give them a few weeks of being bare to get in good condition before experimenting with colours. There’s a few gel polish products you can try.

Simply and classic always works best.

Have you seen some people doing their own French nails? You CAN go wrong 😂

OP, I don't do my own gel nails so I can't advise on those, but I do my own nails just with a simple Barry M, because I like changing the colours every 4 days or so. I use a top coat and base coat and have no chipping if I use yellow gloves when washing up :)

You could try Rimmel gel polish and topcoat. Just goes on like normal varnish but it does last a lot longer.

Thanks - great advice. Any recommendation for a budget nail strengthener?

thanks - helpful to know a tried and tested brand for chipping
