Laser hair removal for mid-brown South Asian skin

South Asian ethnicity, skin is a yellow olive colour that’s a perfect match with MAC NC35 in winter and C40 in summer.

Many years ago I had very successful Soprano laser hair removal at a clinic off Harley Street that’s since closed down.

I’m now peri-menopausal and my facial hair is back with a vengeance, and now we’re not talking peach fuzz so much as migrating eyebrows.

I would love some recommendations from Mumsnet before the hair goes white/grey and is past rescue.

Has the world of laser hair removal moved on during my blessed hair-free years? Should I be asking for a different laser? Where should I go? I’m wary of beauticians and aestheticians and would prefer somewhere at least supervised by an NHS consultant dermatologist. I live in London but happy to travel. Thank you.

A friend of mine with Mediterranean skin and dark hair uses a Lumea at home and says it's absolutely amazing and has changed her life!

Thank you. I was tempted by the Lumea but South Asian skin is very prone to scarring, hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation so I’m too nervous for a DIY option!

I’m still no further on so is there anyone about who can help with this?

Any Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi ethnicity Mumsnet members who have had laser? (Too outing to post my own ethnicity as it’s none of those but similar colouring 🥴).

I'm mixed race and have laser treatment at Moda Donna in Isle of Dogs/Canary Wharf and recommend them.

Interested in the answer as am in a similar situation. I’m not in London so less choice.

This clinic is dermatologist led. Anjali Mahto is a WOC so I would imagine you would be in good hands!

I am darker than you and south Asian OP, have had laser in the past and started having facial hair peri menopause. Have used Lumea, no problem at all.

Thank you for the tips. So helpful. Will return and update if I get a good result. I’m returning to bleaching, threading and plucking for now. Very cheap and effective but what a drag.
