If you are a redhead what do you wear in winter?

Black is totally draining, brown does not often work with cool skin tones.. how do you keep warm and in what great colours please. ?! I look awful in winter.

Pink is tricky - baby pink makes me look like a ghost. I can wear a deep dusky rose pink.

I kind of know what you mean about the advice to wear black and not too many autumnal tones. Sometimes if I wear terracotta or cinnamon or very warm brown, I look like I’m going to combust!
If my hair has dried very warm (my hair seems to change colour depending upon how it’s dried - it’s curly so the tighter the curl, the less bright it is. If it dries fluffy, it’s very bright) then I need to wear my greys, teals or petrol blues that day. Or cream/camel.
Red hair is tricky 😂 but yes beautiful.

I've very rarely found a pink I can't wear; l like proper shell and baby pink right through to bright cerise and fuschia, although anything darker starts edging into purple/aubergine and doesn't work.

Teal is horrific on me, sadly - it's one of the few blue/green colours I like (along with turquoise which looks equally hideous). I wonder whether it's because I have blue eyes?

I don’t think it’s because you have blue eyes. I have blue eyes and look great in teal. I love wearing pink but I’m a bit cautious about wearing hot pink. I always think it won’t look good.

I'm cool toned redheAd with blue eyes and wear a lot of green, some navy/dark blue and some black

HippyDippieTrees · 21/08/2022 18:16

I look rubbish in greens/blues/browns. Coral suits me best and black looks good on me.

It's weird, isn't it? Teal is the only colour I can think of which actually makes me look really ill and God knows I've tried.

I think hot pink always looks amazing but then I love hot pink, especially with red 😊

It is. I think I should try hot pink because I’m seeing so much in that colour and I feel like I’m missing out!

I never thought of redheads as being cool toned. Is the hair more of a blue/burgundy red rather than a chestnut/strawberry colour? Or is it purely skin tone that denotes them as cool?

Hot pink amd red sounds ace. How do you combine??

Givemesunshines · 21/08/2022 19:00

Yes , lots of redheads can be cool or neutral

At a make up.counter the assistant assumed that i had warm coloring due to hair.
She put a coral blush and lip on me and brown shadow.. i looked dirty / ill .

Another, bobbi brown did me in grey liner, pink lips and blush and my eyes popped !
I am hard to match as i veer to neutral.

I have lots more red things than hot pink things, but I wear pink with red often and pale/rose pink goes with it too. For winter I have a nice red wool coat from Gant, and a tweedy D&G skirt with both colours in (which was a vintage shop find) but it's mostly plain cashmere sweaters, scarves and bags.

I will mourn forever a dress I had from Monsoon years ago which had a sort of Indian print in hot pink and red with some orange too - I donated it when I got tired of it and regretted it instantly, although it wouldn't fit me now. Bugger it 🤣

I buy a lot of natural wool and wool/cotton blend jumpers and jumper dresses for winter. You can usually find them in the whole rainbow of colours at places like Woolovers. I have chestnut red hair and a rosy pink freckled face with hazel eyes and I look best in tertiary muddy colours like toffee/olive/charcoal/mocha/dusky pink/ochre/sage I've found low contrast colours suit me best although in summer I do wear teal, turquoise and indigo. Navy is my smart colour for my winter work coat. I can't wear most pinks or red but that's because it makes my face look redder so may not be to do with my hair.

My DD has light red hair and blue eyes and suits a totally different palette to me: peach, lilac, ballerina pink, mint, lemon, baby blue. All colours I could never wear and she looks amazing in.

I'm cool toned. Think English rose/porcelain type colouring Smile or just pale blue
Yellow toned foundations make me look jaundiced

Now I think about it I saw this in Sainsbury's last weekend and would love something similar with a round/scoop neck if anybody spots one (and in a natural fibre, because I sweat like pork in plastic with acrylic 😳)

Copper hair and green eyes here. I wear purples, plums, burgundy type colours. Soft, dusky pinks are okay, but not shocking or fuschia shades. Also all shades of green, teal, peacock blue, that kind of thing.
I totally avoid orangey or tomato type colours, or any reds that lean towards the orange spectrum.

I guess all redheads are different, and you just have to learn what suits you by other people complimenting you, and by looking in a mirror, and these days taking selfies. It's a very inexact science.

GetOffTheRoof · 24/08/2022 23:12

I love to wear petrol blue, vivid teal greens and khaki / olive green in block colours. It looks amazing with gingery red hair (although mine isn't natural 😂).

I also wear lots of kimonos and short light cover ups - I must have a dozen One Hundred Stars short kimonos in all shades. I wear them with plain vests - black or white mostly.

Also lots of plain coloured tshirts with bright / deep coloured pashminas or huge scarves wrapped around my neck and shoulders. I easily have another dozen or more of those too....
