Dresses that accommodate larger boobs?

I'm feeling awful about my body lately, especially my boobs because nothing seems to fit right. I'm a size 12/14 and 34GG bra size so big but not that big, and yet most size 14 dresses just don't fit across the chest at all. Going up a size again makes the dress look too big otherwise because I'm only 5ft3. Anything that buttons up is a no-go because of the gape. I've tried brands that are meant to be cut for "real bodies" (not my words! all bodies are real obviously) like MuthaHood that everyone raves about on Instagram, and also online/high street type brands, most recently Roman Originals online, and all have the same issue.

I'm working on losing weight and hopefully that will help in the long run but are there any brands anyone can recommend that accommodate bigger boobs too? Ideally natural materials like cotton, linen, viscose especially EcoVero is ok as well. I wear skirts and t-shirts but would really love to wear dresses too.

Lady V London dresses are very big boob friendly! Various “vintage” styles (some more than others). Sign up to their mailing list, they’re one of those businesses you never pay full price for if you can hang on a few weeks.

Bravissimo sometimes have nice dresses to accommodate big boobs.

Not sure if you’re into jumpsuits as well as dresses but I’ve found (of all places!) that white stuff jumpsuits fit me really nicely (30JJ). Even the button up ones don’t gap! Haven’t tried any dresses though so not sure how they’d compare.

For dresses, closet london, wrap styles (with a cami - mine are warehouse or & other stories) or vintage (just have to be prepared to spend a whole trawling Vinted/eBay/Etsy but if you’re persistent enough you can get stuff to your measurements).

I agree with hunting out vintage dresses. I’m a size 6-8 with g cups and clothes that aren’t frumpy or too tight are a nightmare.
I don’t like the bravissimo clothes. The waists are too high and the fabrics are nasty.

Phase Eight. They are cut brilliantly and with plenty of fabric so no side boob!

There was a grey thread last summer on summer dresses that are good for large boobs - search isn’t working for me but if you search you should find it. It was super helpful

Great not grey!

Dorothy Perkins is always cut well for curves, in my experience. I've found the answer is to look for dresses with some elastane or other stretch in too. Helps with those extreme changes in measurements that come with big boobs/ bums/ hips.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 26/08/2022 10:55

Second phase eight, also (surprisingly) Sezane

34J here.

Whistles
Winser London
Hush
Closet
Phase Eight
Sugarhill Brighton

Also specialist brands I haven't tried myself yet are Fairlie Curved and Alice Fawke.

I feel your pain!! I’ve had some success with And/Or from John Lewis. The range of dresses tends to be generously cut so I’ve mostly sized down but I’ve found some really nice dresses that fit nicely over boobs.

PeloAddict · 26/08/2022 17:58

I'm a 34K
Fairlie curved
Dorothy Perkins I often have success with
La redoute - the anne weyburn range
Sometimes joe browns
Lady v London
Collectif
Just got a lovely casual dress from next which fits well

I often get the tall range as boobs can take up the length in a dress. And read reviews! Anything that complains the top half is too big.. I buy it Grin

I look for halter neck dresses. I also size up and take in where necessary.
