BIAB nails

I used to have gels quite often but found they started to make my nails feel quite thin and damaged underneath. Someone recommended BIAB - can anyone who has been having it for a while advise on how well it lasts/how their nails feel from longer term use? Thanks!

It depends on the brand used and the skills of the tech who applies them. I wouldn't let anyone put The Gel Bottle on me or anyone I know as it's been linked to thousands of allergic reactions. Once your allergic to nail products it can affect dental treatments, and orthopaedic treatments. If you ever need a filling or hip replacement you might not be able to if you become allergic to nail products. There are plenty of reputable brands who's products are safe to use. Typically and brand manufactured fully within the UK, EU, or USA all comply to extremely high standards. The problems arise with products imported from places like China.

If you go to a non standard salon, one that offers really cheap nails, often employ trafficked women, and who don't use a reputable brand then they will wreck your nails through over filing, and potentially expose you to hazardous levels of chemicals by using products that are not fit to be used on the nail and imported from China.

Find a nail tech who knows what they are doing and takes pride in their work. There are literally thousands. Ask questions about what brands they use. When you go for your appointment the brand they use should be on the lamp they have you putting your hands into, and you will see it on all their product bottles and pots. If you can't see this, or if the brand on the lamp is different to the brand shown on the bottles then leave.

In my opinion the industry needs to be regulated more in the UK because as it stands there are far too many salons who care very little for the well-being of their clients.

I go to a salon where the techs use hand emery boards or drills if you don't mind them.

I have been having BIAB for about 4 months now and have noticed my nails seem stronger. I'm giving up after Christmas as it's quite pricey. I'll see how they are once I've stopped having them done professionally.
