Fashion people, what are you lusting after for Fall 22? I am making a list of wants (long) and buys (very short so far) and trying to work out what the real trends are for this season. Definitely orange?

I am thinking a rust jumper. Maybe yellow or orange trainers?

Tell me about your shopping!

Ooo I love those IM boots

These faux leather trousers have caught my eye but would like black. I'm going to have a look around and see if any are around-need petite/short length, impossible to shorten pleather!

downfield · 17/08/2022 07:20

I want some things in the Bottega green colour definitely an o/s jumper & scarf. Maybe some cowboy/western boots & I need a new slouchy bag but not seen one I love yet. l also need a new coat at some point

whatnottowear · 17/08/2022 07:20

The seasalt boots are certainly more affordable

whatnottowear · 17/08/2022 07:21

Sorry pressed send too soon! The seasalt boots are definitely a more feasible option @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Am going to shortlist for now and wait to buy something in sales so will add those to the list.

I fancy a long trench up to about £250...any recommendations welcome

this is on my list this year - also try Hobbs they normally have great trench coats

RockStarMartini · 17/08/2022 08:08

I’ve got these on my list so far:

  • a tailored grey wool coat
  • the perfect black polo neck
  • Veja Rio Brancos
  • some decent t-shirts without rolled/cap sleeves - why are these so hard to find?
  • chunky knitwear - had some fab jumpers from Primark last year which did me all winter with a couple of wears a week so not bad going
Can’t wait to get my chunky boots and scarves out again.
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/08/2022 08:12

@RockStarMartini I pretty much live in black polo necks in the winter. My best one is a cotton ribbed one from Boden but I don't buy from them any more because they are Tory donors.

Superbabe64 · 17/08/2022 09:17

@Waystation
thanks for that. Going to have a mooch round the shops today. It's my wedding anniversary so feel like spoiling myself...since the 'D'H has not come up with anything this morning 😁

For reason I have my eye on metallic cardigans/jumpers like this. I recently got a linen t-shirt from Mint Velvet that had some sparkle and was surprised how flattering it was. My usual style isn’t sparkly at all, I’ve never worn sequins!

@Superbabe64 @Waystation Massimo Dutti have got some nice-looking trenches around that mark...

viewsoftheshard · 17/08/2022 10:46

I second that, they have great trenches every year. Just reminded me I need to update my navy one from 6 years ago as it’s worn out now.

I want some tan suede knee high boots with a small heel.

Can't go wrong with Fairfax and Favor for those

I had a quick look today. Not sure MD have had all their stock in yet. Did like one in Mango. Will have another shop next week when I can also get to a COS...they've just shut my local one down 😞

lindyloo57 · 18/08/2022 09:35

@twistyizzy I've just looked at the boots, I love them, but they are twice the price I would spend, now I can't stop thinking I want them.

They are even more beautiful in the flesh. A statement piece but also classic at the same time. You can get them in 3 heel heights and you can change the tassels to match your outfit too!

@Superbabe64
i just recently purchased a Barbour trench coat. It’s perfect for me, very waterproof and comes with a detachable hood

EllaPaella · 18/08/2022 13:15

I haven't given much thought to autumn yet as it still feels so summery and there's a lot more summer to come but I will definitely be buying a pair of black straight leg Levi's, I haven't had decent black jeans for ages and they are so versatile. This time of year I usually start looking at winter boots and coats but I have all I need in that regard so I'll probably treat myself to a couple of new woolly hats.
A decent cashmere sweater is probably going to be my main indulgence- I fancy a red or orange.

Justonedayatatime11 · 18/08/2022 18:58

Seconding the Fairfax and Favor boots. Pricey but worth every penny

Justkoko · 18/08/2022 20:51

I'm after the perfect black loafers. Not patent, not matt but sheeny leather, not too clumpy nor too delicate. Timeless.
Most of all, very comfortable. The last couple of pairs I've ended up getting rid of because they didn't hold on to my feet well enough so it felt like the tendons or whatever were straining to keep them on as I walked. They actually started to hurt my feet.
Any ideas very welcome.

goshy · 18/08/2022 20:53

russell & bromley do great loafers

whatnottowear · 19/08/2022 07:40

@Justkoko I have bass weejuns - www.ghbass-eu.com/women.html They are pretty comfortable and certainly don't slip off my feet (they were very tight on first wear but softened up within a couple of wears and now fit like a glove). The range has quite a few options from slim fit to very clumpy so might have something suitable.

whatnottowear · 19/08/2022 07:41

(though it looks like the Weejuns prices have gone up a lot - am sure I paid much less than that. They do have sales)

Sooverthemill · 19/08/2022 08:20

I have bought a relaxed navy jumper from navygrey as I'm building up my 'classics'. I will need new backless loafers as my Russell and Bromley ones got worn most days last winter and they really suit my lifestyle. I may try a pair of baggy wide leg jeans but as I'm petite they mightn't work. I have my eye on a nice blouse for going 'out' from Sézane . I'm going to sell my Penelope Chilvers loafers that are just too hard for my soft little feet and I've worn maybe twice and try to find a comfy pair maybe from grensons. Am going to knit a rust orange jumper for sure.

Dadaya · 19/08/2022 08:29

Looking forward to a big maxi coat. I always feel crap just shoving on yesterday’s sweater to drop the kids off at school. A maxi coat covers it all up, the sweater doesn’t even have to be clean!

Justkoko · 19/08/2022 11:02

I think the issue with loafers is the slipping off the heel combined with a stiff sole means you have to grip them a bit with your toes. Not ideal as it strains the joints in my feet a bit. How on earth do you tell how they will wear in the shop though?🤔
I just want simple penny loafers that flex with my feet and stay on!
Dune have nice ones. I've had good boots from there before, anyone had the penny loafers?
