It's like rummaging through the best charity shop ever .

Somebody stop me .....

Today I've bought a yellow submarine tshirt for my Beatles mad son for £1.50, also got him a white company Christmas jumper to put away until December- £3 and my daughter a rainbow striped dress from Next- £1.50! Now I'm looking for a nice dress to wear to a wedding reception I've got coming up. I saw a lovely one but got greedy and made an offer when it was only £8 to start with and I should've just bought it when I saw it as it wasn't accepted and then sold to somebody else.
The people in my Evri shop are going to start giving me funny looks the amount I keep popping in to drop off and pick up parcels Blush

Yourownpersonaljesus · 19/08/2022 22:35

Yay! I made my first sale. I sold 3 shirts as a bundle within minutes of putting them on. Wish I'd put them on for a bit more now though I suppose they may not have sold if I had.

Awesome username btw

Spudina · 19/08/2022 23:41

I am totally addicted. I have a couple if things I would like to sell. Can someone help me with Yodel, (as Royal Mail seems to be a no go judging by this thread) How do I go about that? How do I know what eight category to use? I have a pair of trousers to sell for example. Sorry for the stupid questions.

Ffsjustltb · 20/08/2022 00:00

Just discovered Vinted. I put a few items up for sale. It's really easy and they guide you through with postage etc as you list. Have sold some things already and it's addictive. Trouble is, I'm now spending the gains on buying off Vinted instead!. I've had a few things up for £ 3 or £2.50 and had messages asking if I'll the 50p less...what's that about 😄😄

Ffsjustltb · 20/08/2022 00:16

If I'll take 50p less...

RiverSkater · 20/08/2022 00:48

Better than Ebay you say?

Oh lord.

Why better?

BuenoSucia · 20/08/2022 06:41

@RiverSkater

  1. prices to sell and buy it now rather than being in a shill war

  2. genuinely the insides of people’s wardrobes rather than 3 million identical items coming from a warehouse in Romford

  3. want a brand new handbag from river island but don’t want to spend more than a fiver? Vinted’s got you. 😁

FlyingSaucerss · 16/08/2022 00:03

I like vinted but I find people take too long to post on there unlike eBay where most people post next day

I wonder is it because they mainly use couriers rather than Royal Mail, I find that's the reason for me.

The nearest drop off for me for Evri is 17 miles away and Yodel is 21 miles away so I have to try and coincide my drop offs when I am travelling in these directions which can mean 2-3 days after buyer has purchased.

BellaCiao1 · 20/08/2022 07:33

Unforgettablefire · 16/08/2022 17:34

They don't take the piss with postage costs either unlike some sellers on eBay.

The only negative I find is they account for postage and not packaging which can be about 50p for a mailing bag at the sellers loss.

I’ve just started buying on Vinted and quite pleased with my purchase.
However could I ask sellers to put a bit more written information.
It’s often hard to tell from photos if something is cotton or polyester and chest length measurements would be really useful if it’s a brand that is new to me.

Dead easy ...

Use kitchen scales to weigh items then select from the options it gives you ... if in doubt go up. I also write the weight at the bottom of my listing in brackets, I.e (200) so if I get a request to do several items as a "bundle " I can easily tot up total weight .

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 20/08/2022 08:35

Hoard used packaging from the parcels you receive and reuse this - turn bags inside out after using a sharpie to remove your details.

I write essays ... I think buyers get bored reading hence my sales are so slow Grin

BuenoSucia · 20/08/2022 08:37

I’ve received loads of stuff in old Amazon boxes or reused packaging. No skin off my nose at all. The clothing is generally secondhand so I’m not going to have the vapours about a reused bag!

BuenoSucia · 20/08/2022 08:39

Please don’t write too much. I saw a pair of shoes I liked in perfect condition… except the seller had written something like “amazing condition because I never wore them out of the bedroom lol 🍆”.

🤮 secondhand I’m fine with - covered in your husband’s dna? No thanks!

Yuck!

I definitely wouldn't over share in that sense! Grin

I listed a chunk of stuff today and have sold 6 bits! Admittedly all the cheap stuff (less than a fiver) but that's enough to use to get the coat I have my eye on...,.

CornishGem1975 · 21/08/2022 13:59

I keep looking at it as it gets recommended so much but I think I must be approaching it wrong as haven't seen anything that I would want to buy!

lugeforlife · 21/08/2022 18:46

@CornishGem1975 I know what you mean. When I first looked I really couldn't be arsed and quite often the photos are a bit shite I think.

I have found it helps to look for something specific. So I want a couple of very cheap pairs of jeans as I am very slowly losing weight. I know M&S jeans tend to fit well, I know I want a boyfriend cut so that's what I search for. I have been revisiting my specific searches every couple of days as the churn is so rapid.

It is addictive I think. I put on 14 things after my clear out and have sold 7 with another 3 in peoples favourites. Everything I put on was in good nick and ranged from 1.50 to 15 quid for some bnwt Boden stuff. DH had just done the recycling so we realised we had no packing and have had to spend a fiver on some stuff from Amazon but even so I've made enough just today to buy a lovely wool coat and 2 pairs of jeans!

loseridiot · 21/08/2022 21:58

I've just joined and bought something but payment keeps failing. It's not my card. Hope they don't charge me. I've tried a few times and have emailed them. It's not fair on the seller. Don't think I'll use them again tbh.

CurrentHun · 22/08/2022 12:50

I’ve lost patience with it. There’s just reams of crap from Shein and Boohoo on there.
Also doesn’t seem very well maintained for the long term- I’ve noticed that sellers not seen onsite for 10 months plus still have their items listed. Surely after a certain level of seller inactivity Vinted should hide the items for sale, knowing they won’t be responded to?
