It's like rummaging through the best charity shop ever .

Somebody stop me .....

Thanks @Candleabra that's the rest of my day accounted for Grin

Boybandfacedfannyfart · 16/08/2022 14:09

“The world’s best charity shop” is a great way to put it. I’m totally addicted and have never bought anything which wasn’t as described/perfect and it’s cheap as chips.

Oh I know! I absolutely love Vinted.
My top tips are:
Dont buy from sellers with no ratings
If it looks too good to be true it’s probably a scam. Second hand clothes listed at a fraction of the price is fine. Brand new “trendy” trainers might be dodgy.

I've just done the same and have bought some cowboy boots.

I have just sold some, wonder if it's to you? 😂

Unforgettablefire · 16/08/2022 17:34

They don't take the piss with postage costs either unlike some sellers on eBay.

stillvicarinatutu · 16/08/2022 17:49

I must stop
Now !
Spent way more than I should . All

I gave up on vinted because their customer service was abysmal. The thread started to tempt me back, but my app needs updated and that's given me the breathing room to remember how awful they are when anything goes wrong!!

AlfieandAnnieRose · 16/08/2022 20:11

Oh I love vinted! I collect all my parcels from the local Hermes/Evri shop so nobody knows how much I’m buying! 😄
I sell so much on there too which is amazing, I was a bit wary at first but I’ve had no problems (touch wood).

AlfieandAnnieRose · 16/08/2022 20:17

Also, I’m loving the prayer @stillvicarinatutu ! 😄

ballsdeep · 16/08/2022 20:24

I love it BUT be wary when selling and sending via Royal Mail. I sold something for only £2 and sent Royal Mail. It was tracked and the buyer said they hadn’t received it so had their money back. It was seen as delivered so I contacted them and Vinted (who you can never get hold of!) and they said they’d send the money via PayPal. It never arrived! No comment from Vinted. I lost about £5 which isn’t massive in the grand scheme of things BUT it is annoying that I went out of my way to send quickly and there was tracking and this could still happen! I’d be careful sending other items and would probably only opt for yodel etc.other than that I’ve had no problems and love it

pistachi0nuts · 16/08/2022 20:45

I find the selling a niiiiiiggghhttmare....unless I'm doing it all wrong. the buyer selects the postage/courier and you have to print your own label and find a shop that offers the courier service, so inconvenient. plus everything goes for way less than eBay and the buyers are so goddamn cheap.

Elsiid · 16/08/2022 20:53

Didn't you see the threads on here from mumsnetters em who had been scammed?

They were all sent paper plates and as they were marked as delivered was a total nuisance.

I've stopped using it until the sort the scammers, all over Twitter too.

TheChosenTwo · 16/08/2022 21:04

I’ve literally never found anything Of any interest (to me!) on there, but then I never got into eBay either.
I hate the whole setup but dd1 absolutely loves buying and selling on Vinted. It’s a good way to keep using clothes and other things that have plenty of life left in them so as far as I’m concerned OP, carry on!

CurbsideProphet · 16/08/2022 21:12

I've bought some maternity clothes on there is good condition for reasonable prices. I haven't bought anything in a while after the same Yodel guy brought 3 different parcels for me and commented that I must really like Vinted. He shamed me into taking a break 😀

I did see that but the seller doesn't get any money until you say you received the goods as expected.

Plus the kind of thing I buy are cheapo - nothing designer . Levi's and office shoes are my most decadent purchases.

Oh gosh. I’ve just come back on to MN to have a break from Vinted! I’ve had loads of stuff from there. I don’t think there’s any huge risk involved, really… you have to say that all is well before the seller is given their money.
I doubt I’ll buy many things new ever again!

Cookie79 · 16/08/2022 22:03

@MondayMoan I wish I’d looked into selling on vinted before I just read this thread as I just gave away 2 squishmallows today on Olio! A giant one too. I’d had them on Facebook for a few weeks and no nibbles so decided there wasn’t a market for them.

I thought vinted was just clothes. Hmmm….

Sweetlikechocolate6 · 16/08/2022 22:13

I may have just bought 14 items on there today nothing dearer than £5 each but I was badly in need of a wardrobe update as all of my clothes pre date Covid . Just wish there was a way to sell easily without a printer :( as Royal Mail doesn’t sound brilliant

with yodel you can download the label to your phone and the shop scan it. With eve I I need to print. It may be the shops by me though!

I don't see the point of this as the sender of the paper plates won't receive a penny 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pleiades2020 · 16/08/2022 22:41

Welcome to the rabbit hole - I can't escape.

Like others have said read the reviews. If it sounds too good to be true it's probably a scam, but most sellers are honest. I wouldn't buy high end electrical items from there. And be patient - new items crop up all the time so if you're after something in particular it will probably turn up at some point.

If an item's been on a while it's definitely worth sending an offer. Or if you're going for a bundle. Be careful with bundles though - it doesn't reserve the item and if the seller is slow to respond someone else can buy it in the meantime.

Pleiades2020 · 16/08/2022 22:43

@TheFormidableMrsC I think what happens is some people are away when the paper plate arrives. Vinted gives only a couple of days for the buyer to raise an issue after delivery. If they're away they miss the window and the seller gets the money.

Exactly this. Some people ended up out of pocket because of the 2 day window. If post is delayed and they can't be home for some reason for example.

Oh goodness, I had no idea about this. I will bear that in mind. I do check feedback etc. Thanks for clarifying!
