Depressing google search!

Off on hols to France next week. My summer wardrobe in the UK has mainly consisted of vest top and knackered shorts as I am working from home most of the time and so I thought I'd order some separates in mix and match colours for a basic holiday capsule wardrobe that I can then add in some existing bits and pieces to change things up.

I googled "over 40 holiday style" to get some inspiration and the internet is telling me I should dress like my mum. I'm 46, size 16-18 and am an apple shape but god help me I didn't think I needed to consign myself to Edinburgh Woollen Mill quite yet! I'm not quite ready for lagenlook (but I do love oversized linen button up shirts) or floral tshirts with bermuda shorts.

It was really depressing.

Don't go on the internet advice.
Just go round the shops and buy what you like. No-one checks your age.
Although, to be fair, you've left summer holiday clothes shopping a bit late.
Next year, go round the shops about May/June and do lots of trying on.

If you're on Instagram, Vickie from @ inpolife shares great summer outfit ideas from high street shops. Really flattering, trendy but classic, looks really comfy and fun. Wish I'd discovered her account before my hol!
