Where in London to buy wedding guest dresses?

I am going to a wedding soon and I need a new dress. I am 60, 5"6" and a size 16 apple shape. I can spend a a bit of money on this dress and I am going to be in London soon. Which shops might suit my needs? It is a Scottish wedding and there will be a ceilidh so any dress needs to be light, comfortable and swishy! Thanks.

Department stores are your best bet - ask for a personal shopper?

ApolloandDaphne · 14/08/2022 09:45

Yes I will look in John Lewis for sure. I was just looking for any places that I might not know about that were specific to London. Maybe smaller specialist shops? Maybe they don't exist now.

What sort of budget?

ApolloandDaphne · 14/08/2022 09:51

Maybe up to £300.

For example Lalage in Beauchamp Place is very traditional/formal wedding guest and pretty expensive

BadlydoneHelen · 14/08/2022 09:51

Sorry Lalage is too expensive then

I think department store is probably your best bet- if not John Lewis then perhaps Selfridges?

I love Phase Eight for wedding outfits. Reiss or Whistles are also good. I'd probably head to Longacre in Covent Garden as they have a good selection of shops all near each other.

What's your style??? You don't need to go to a specific wedding guest dress shop. Depending on your tastes/personal style you can pick something up on the high street.

I like this style but I struggle a bit with man made fabrics.

My friend needed a dress for a wedding and went for the John Lewis personal shopping service and came away with three dresses. You tell them your budget, I think.

Also definitely check out Nancy Mac website for stunning non-man-made dresses.

@ApolloandDaphne I thought the pleated skirt would be fun for a ceilidh!

Lovely range of frocks

Arrange a trip to London to try on lots in their studio then buy online. Next, take a picture of the one you choose to an appointment at R&P for the perfect foundation garments

All be sorted. Enjoy.
