Am in a bit of a style rut and need some inspiration. Has anyone tried Stitch Fix and could tell me what they thought of it?

I had 2 boxes from them.

The first had a blue top in it and I hate blue and had made this clear. They also sent 2 pairs of black joggers, one in a nasty shiny finish. I'd specified no trousers unless they had at least a 34" inseam. These didn't. Much too short

Basically didn't take any notice of any of the styling forms I'd filled in. In fact they refunded me the styling fee as it was so bad.

The second was better but the jacket was too small ( I'm a 10 and this apparently was a 42" chest) and one dress was lovely but way overpriced and available elsewhere online for 70% less. I returned everything but bought the dress from the other stockist.

Cancelled my subscription at that point.

I have had 4 or 5 "fixes". The last two , I returned the lot. The previous ones were lovely, some nice sweaters and a lovely dress. If the next one is poor I will cancel my subscription.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 13/08/2022 14:38

I've probably had 8 boxes over the last few years, I find either I love everything or they have totally missed the mark. It's hit and miss tbh.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/08/2022 14:45

DH has recently bern promoted and needed some better clothes. He's had 2 boxes, which both hit the mark very well. He's kept everything but 1 shirt, which was actually a nice cut but a dreadful colour.

I might try them in the winter and see if they can cope with size 9 feet, a very long torso and calf muscles too bulbous to fit any trousers with a hint of a taper.

tobee · 13/08/2022 14:52

Mine have all been pretty good. Good fit and mostly got my feedback right.

But I've put my next subscription back a few times because I don't need any more clothes really. And I'd probably cave and buy some anyway. 😬

I’ve had a couple of great boxes and a couple of ok ones. They seem better at sending me causal stuff I like than work wear. Some of the jumpers in particular were different cuts and colours to what I’d choose for myself and really suited me.

if you do decide to try feel free to PM me for a code for £15 off (I will get £15 credit too).

devildeepbluesea · 13/08/2022 15:00

My first one was pretty good and the rest awful: frumpy, dowdy and totally ignored what I asked for. Overpriced too.

MerlinsButler · 14/08/2022 11:18

@findingmel I've had 6 or 7 boxes. And kept the majority of the clothes. Things I've found helped is always giving feedback on your selection. Setting wide parameters on the choices you get when you set up your profile I.e. price range etc and being specific about what you want in your next fix / box.

Also have found customer service to be really good if I've needed to delay returns / exchange etc.

Have had 4 boxes so far and have been pretty happy with the selections

But I hate shopping so it works for me a

SudocremOnEverything · 14/08/2022 11:25

I’ve had a few boxes and got some good stuff. I found it helpful as they picked things I wouldn’t have chosen myself but, it turns out, I really like. So it’s been useful for that. I’m wearing a stitch fix outfit today.

and I hate shopping too. So avoiding that helps a great deal.

i think the quality can be a bit hit and miss though. I do find it frustrating that they send emails with a lot of stuff that looks brilliant but there’s no way to say ‘I want THIS!’

Teeheehee1579 · 14/08/2022 11:27

I’ve had 3 boxes and found them all (to quote pp) frumpy and dowdy. They completely ignored any feedback (I gave plenty) I gave or requests for specific types of items or not for others. I have cancelled subscription as I do not think it is really tailored by person at all whatever the marketing says. They had to refund my fee on the last box as it was so clearly the opposite of any feedback or requests I had made.

LadyPoison · 14/08/2022 12:49

I thought I'd try Lookiero and I've just had a preview of my first selections.

Rejected all of them - the dreaded blue again and clothes that my elderly mother would like. I can only hope that the box will be better.

Assuming it isn't are there any companies that do interesting quirky clothes? I selected quirky and bohemian at Lookiero and the styles are safe and frumpy

findingmel · 14/08/2022 12:51

Thanks everyone! Much appreciated. May give it a go towards the autumn/winter. I definitely need a style overhaul so might be worth a try.

I’ve had 5 boxes and found the quality and fit with me got better as time went on. I’ve seemed to hit on a stylist that suits me and I’ve kept all 5 items from the last 2 boxes, bonus is that you then get 20% off everything. For me it does help push me towards clothes I wouldn’t normally wear - but isn’t too out there!

if anyone wants it here is my code for £15 off www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/bhhtrf5rmg?sod=i&som=c
