Right that’s it. I’ve decided to create a minimalist, flattering wardrobe. Anyone want to join?

I’ve noticed how stressful I find choosing an outfit to wear. I’m a size 14, hoping to lose a bit of weight, but I’m keeping hold of clothes I haven’t fit in since before Covid in the hope that I’ll get back in them. It’s like keeping a stick to beat myself with!

Ive also been going through a phase for the last few years of buying bright, colourful clothes on but trying to put them together is a pain in the arse without looking like a rainbow twat. I also go off the patterns pretty quick.

im lusting after a pared back, simple wardrobe where everything suits me. Whenever I pull out a simple white v neck tee and jeans to wear I feel relieved at the simplicity of it, and I want my whole wardrobe to feel like that.

with that in mind I’ve decided to have a clear out and refocus back on what suits and what goes together.

my current shopping list:
2 pairs of ‘mom’ jeans
v neck jumpers for winter- black and grey
a white Henley top
a beige cardigan
A leopard print skirt

ive recently acquired a new silver bag that goes with everything and some white Nikes with leopard print ticks which also go with everything I own.

Sounds like you're already well on your way! I would add:

White silk shirrt (or similar if silk too pricey)
Black or brown ankle boots for autumn
A couple of dresses to wear with the boots for autumn/winter
Grey merino/cashmere pashmina

I am reading in interest as I want to consider something similar.

My question to you though is do you like the colour? If you are attracted to it and have bought bright stuff before, is it worth considering a couple of 'accent' pieces (Christ I sound like Bridget jones mum but you know what I mean).

I don't know the answer btw. It's a problem I face in that bright colours suit and attract me so I struggle to get the pared down look balanced although I still strive for it.

Red is the colour I was thinking of when I read your list btw. Maybe a red jumper and/or a red coat or jacket.

I've been wearing dresses all summer - love that I don't need to find the other half of an outfit.

Following with interest, thanks OP! 😊

I'm about the same size as you and would like to make life easier for myself.

I struggle in spring/summer so I was delighted when I hit on the idea of grey skinnies which go with my black birkinstokes if hot or trainers if cold and a grey mint velvet style t shirt and denim jacket (if cold)

Obviously high summer is a bit different...I'll work on that next summer 😀I'll only be 53! Plenty of time to get this right...

what colour suits you? Buy more of that at least on the top half. Why beige cardi if your other colours are black/grey?
