Summer ball dress

Dh has just announced that he has taken a table at a football summer ball (he is a sponsor) and apparently does this every year.

This is my first year being married to him and what with covid it hasn't been on for a while so I haven't been before.

What the hell do I wear? It's at a fancy hotel in 2 weeks time. It's black tie. Is a summer ball long dresses? Or would a short one be ok?

So I'm 5'2" size 8, (small boobs so nothing too low cut). Im pretty tanned and blonde.

Haven't seen a real ball gown for a long time. Nowadays some wear long, some short and some evening trousers and tops. Is it a first division football team?

The football team play in the Scottish first division (I think?!) so it's not celebs!!

That dress is lovely op and the model will be 5'8 so won't be as short.

It probably is more party than black tie but I also think you can get away with it.

Can you find photos on social from previous years to get an idea?

I’d definitely agree at looking at SM to see what others are wearing. Black Tie is a bit of a minefield IMO, sometimes it’s got to be proper long and others it’s not nod to glamorous party dresses.

Anything but black I would say. I wear full length fairly straight (too poofy is too showy for me). Amazon have plenty if you can't get to the shops. My favourite one is from silk Fred, my other one is ever pretty, both under £80

Petite fit is a good choice if you are not 5'10

Right so I googled and sound a few photos and about half had short black dresses and half long ones.
