Any recommendations for a nail splitting across?

Just that really, it's way past my fingertip around a third of the way up my nailbed.

If it comes off or catches in something it's going to hurt like billy-o.

Does anyone know of anything that can keep my nail protected while it grows out?

TIA

Cut a piece of tissue to the shape of your whole nail. Stick it on with nail glue. Do another layer the same. Should keep it all together until it grows long enough to cut it. Cut the whole nail short as well, to minimise the chance of catching it on something. It won’t look amazing, but you can improve it a bit with pale pink polish.

Have a look at a silk wrap repair kit. I think boots do them. Basically you cut a piece of material and stick it on to help the nail regrow underneath without further damage.

XH cut his bail half-way up on the blade from a meat slicer. He put some super glue across the cut and it grew out without any problem.
