Looking for a light, everyday perfume (sweet, floral but not musky)

Anything with heavy musks in dries down awfully on me, and I hate that heavy musk you can smell in lots of sweet perfumes.

My previous perfumes were Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, and Marc Jacobs Daisy which I still like as they smell light and fresh but the smell is heavily associated with memories from the last few years, and I want to get a new perfume as I've had a bit of a fresh start recently and started a new job.

Other perfumes I have and have liked include Prada Candy Kiss, and Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream but I find them both a bit too heavy for wearing in the day (e.g. to the office). I also like the Philosophy Amazing Grace perfume. I also own the Chloe Love Story perfume which I like but feels like it's missing 'something'.

Perfumes I've tried and don't like: Miss Dior (too heavy/musky), Miss Dior Roses 'n Roses (too overly sweet, I'd have probably liked it when I was a teenager) and Flowerbomb (way too heavy/musky on me).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

Forgot to add I've also tried Black Opium and Alien - way too heavy for me, they kind of hurt my nose if that makes sense

You could try Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil.

It's floral with some citrus and slightly herbal. Beautiful composition, really interesting but also light, fresh and very work-safe IMO.

Not musky (I mean, technically, there's a little musk in the base but it certainly doesn't smell 'musky' to me, even on the drydown).

Clarins Eau Des Jardins is really light and fresh.

Her by burberry. Pink bottle.

I recently bought Marc jacobs Daisy Love and it’s really lovely. It’s not too potent, but you know it’s there if you know what I mean. Definitely a softer summer scent!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 07/08/2022 11:36

L'air du temps, Nina Ricci. I've worn this for years & love it.

FredGarland · 07/08/2022 11:36

I've just bought Poom Poom by Maison Matine.

It's light, fruity and floral, I don't get any musk at all from it, even though it's in the notes (I'm not a fan of musky smells, I like 'clean').

I feel the same about muskiness and I really like L’occitane because they do quite a few that avoid it. I really love Rose Calisson but it is quite sweet, but you might like l’occitane Rose, it’s not just rose but also several other elements and is very light and fresh. Wearing it now and it dries down to warm, floral but not musky. My other absolute fave is decleor arome tonic but it’s discontinued sadly, but if you can get hold of any you might like that, or something similar notes. Oh and another range to try is the caudalie ones here. And you might like Clarins eau Ressourcante or eau des Jardins.

Basically think posh french skincare brands, they do lovely fresh scents!

Emporio Armani Diamonds is lovely. I usually wear Coco Mademoiselle or Casmir, but my sister bought me Diamonds for my birthday and I really like it.

MintyGreenDreams · 07/08/2022 11:42

Have you tried floral street? They have a shop just off Covent Garden , they also have the perfumes in John Lewis, or there's the website. On the website you can order a discovery set for £16 so you can try all of the scents.
I have a few different ones of theirs, my favourite every day one is the peony.

The Body Shop have revamped their perfumes and I have rediscovered them. Their price point is great.

BlossomsOnATree · 07/08/2022 12:10

OMG they're not bringing back "Of A Man" are they? My favourite perfume ever! Off to check...

Davidoff Cool Water

JanisMoplin · 07/08/2022 16:35

Act sorry it's not floral.

Scabetty · 07/08/2022 16:39

Diptyque eau de Sens is my fave summer scent,

SwedeCarrotLime · 07/08/2022 17:04

I don't think you dislike musk as much as you think you do. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet and Marc Jacobs Daisy both have base notes of musk. You might try Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely.

I would steer you towards floral chypres, such as Chanel Chance. If you want pure floral then maybe Guerlain Aqua Allegoria or some Jo Malones, although be warned that the latter are expensive eaux de colognes and have little staying power.

thenightsky · 07/08/2022 17:09

Flower by Kenzo is my go-to when I want light and flowery.
