Fancy candles
11

Ontomatopea · 05/08/2022 21:05

I need a fancy candle recommendation. Candles I like - diptique mimosa, byredo bibliotheca, that OY one I forget who makes it.

Is the diptique santal one nice? I don't like the wood fire one.

The owners of Lumos are so lovely too, I stock them in my yoga shop and they are a dream to work with.

(I'm not on commission 😆 - just really like independent businesses)

Have a look at Jonathan Ward candles. Fantastic fragrances and the most beautiful jars set with gold that the light shines through.

He’s an independent creator who struggled during recession but has recently been spotted by Claridges who now burn his candles in the lobby.

I misread this as ‘fanny candles’, and immediately though of Gwyneth Paltrow

At the moment I really like the Carriere Freres tomato leaf candle but appreciate that kind of scent isn't to everyone's taste. It reminds me of my late grandparents garden and greenhouse in the summer. They grew an awful lot of tomatoes and the smell of them in the sunshine is so evocative of them for me, as well as being a pleasant fresh scent generally with nothing sickly to it. I love sweet scents but often get a tomato candle for a change.

Diptyque Figuier is probable my favourite in general.

Overrose are worth a look if you like a contemporary look and the scents have a good throw.

I’ll admit from the outset that I have a connection to these as my DD works for the company BUT Born of Botanics is a small company run by a lovely lady with a passion for creating beautiful, natural, evocative scents.

The candles burn beautifully and keep their scent all the way through the burn.

There’s a special offer on at the moment too….

I bought one of these, I'm a huge fan of Diptique candles but this is gorgeous. Great scent and throw.
